TVOS Preview - Rochdale v Altrincham
at 09:06 17 Aug 2025

Decent crowd numbers, they brought 430, so we had about 2500. It will be interesting how Project 5000 will impact this season.
Their first goal scored at Spotland (COA) since 1965, and what a cracker. It certainly fired us into action. They were a good team and quite dirty, picking up 5 yellow cards for the second time this season. A lucky deflection proved to be the decider but we earned that bit of luck. Good to see Tutonda block a cross late in the game. This typified the added steel in the team which was lacking last season.
Oh, and one last point...how can our goalkeeper, from one of the best teams on the planet not kick a long ball with accuracy...I am still scratching my head !!!!!!!!

The event was also used as a great marketing tool by our club. It brought new blood into the ground, especially the young blood. The very young supporters had their own section so they could sing away every time they were woken up by a player coming near them. We often preach to the converted but this was a real chance to recruit.

It was the first time I heard new voice on the tannoy. Whoever he was came over in an extremely professional manner, directing us to the QR code on the scoreboard in order to vote for the man of the match. He also relayed marketing information in a clear, concise way, for example telling us that the shop was open for a few minutes after the match and even telling us where the shop was located. Very simple but effective addition to our marketing tools...we are moving in the right direction methinks.

According to our official site:

Jimmy McNulty made eight changes from Saturday’s league opener, although Ryan East, one of the three remaining starters, was substituted in the first minute for Ian Henderson. This was pre-planned in an attempt comply with the rules of the competition that states there must be a minimum number of starters from either the previous or next league fixture.

More clubs than Ian Woosnam, but he has electric pace and plenty of skill. He will bring the much desired excitement we are longing for.

Good luck to Kairo.

If you say that Dieseruvwe is a direct replacement for him, we have come out of it better. I know it was only one game but this afternoon I saw Mani assist with the first goal and he smashed the ball into the net for the second goal. He had a couple more chances. So far, so good.

So there we have it- straight from the horses mouth- how utterly depressing, Fuking Rochdale.
Don't know about you chaps but I feel completely embarrassed by this move- and shows how far we've fallen away, that Rochdale can take our best players for nothing. banghead.
Just one response.
They haven't been following our recent history...we are in Year 2 of a 3 year project with our new, local, billionaire owners, who bought 90% of the club, with little debt, for £2m. Sorry Hartlepool, but we have finally made it, and just watch us go!!! This is just the start of the take-off !!!!!!!!

Should he stay or should he go?

On the face of it we have a decision making board who are professional in their approach. I would like them to show further proof of their quality and call a meeting of directors which should conclude that McNulty isn't the manager to take us forward and therefore relieve him of his duties. The Board made a mistake giving him a 3 year contract, but the Board can make amends by sacking him, thereby giving the club a quantum leap in progressing towards promotion in the near future and helping achieve the Project 5000 target at the same time.

Exciting football today, THAT is what all the fuss is about; if McNulty can serve that style of football then job done, it's that easy

You understand the situation perfectly TS. I would sack McNumpty immediately and put you in charge. That would be a massive improvement.
How the decision makers cannot see the bleeding obvious is far beyond my comprehension.

Pleased with the performance today. More of the tactics many of us have been craving for: more balls in the box, more shots, the inclusion of Hendo from the start, two strikers upfront and the distribution from our new goalkeeper was far, far better.
There is hope for us yet if McNulty keeps changing his tactics.

Would you take out of the cup & play offs if it meant McNulty being sacked?
at 09:00 26 Mar 2025

Exactly, McNulty shows us time after time that he doesn't learn. He is not for turning. Hence, we are served up with the same robotic, predictable, boring shite. The only thing that has changed on the menu is a dolop of hot spice when the Bird is thrown into the mix. And now the Bird ingredient is no longer on the menu everything has gone bland. The chef needs to go.

He has nurtured, over the many months he has been in the job, a TOOTHLESS team, and it fills me with dread what this toothless team will do this Saturday against Aldershot, then against Spennymoor and then a big question mark as to whether we make the playoffs.

The race for 7th (Saturday 15th Feb)
at 11:18 16 Feb 2025

The recent Oldham game gave us some clear answers, I agree TS, we need to recruit two muscle men with fire in their bellies or our season is over.
As others have alluded to McNulty needs to be sacked or he changes his tactics...
Leaving one or two players upfront when we defend corners.
Have another player working alongside Mitchell, it doesn't work with one upfront.
Rather than getting three quarters up the pitch and then passing the ball from one side of the pitch to the other, we need to GET THE BALL IN THE BOX, and make sure our players react to that.
As clearly shown yesterday substitutions need to be made in a timely manner, and McNulty demonstrates match after match he doesn't have that basic managerial skill.
The essential starting point for Project 5000 is ENTERTAINMENT of fans and McNulty is not on the same page. His brand of football is grey. Pass, pass, pass and pass again. The penny still hasn't dropped with him that we want much more excitement...our owners can afford to sack him and put these costs in the area of Project 5000. Money well spent. There is still enough time to save this season...just do it !!

Spot on...I am glad you have taken effort to report this valuable feedback for the club. I finally bought my FA Cup ticket last night having similar problems.
My son, who works in IT, had big problems buying a ticket last Saturday on the way to the match!!!!!
Simply not good enough and it needs to improve immediately.

Special mention to Jili Buyabu. Although he didn't sparkle too much going forward his overall play was one of our key factors in grinding out that victory. He used his fast pace in defensive situations to get us out of the merde. He has bundles of energy and strength giving him more tenacity than anyone on the pitch. He was up for the fight and without him last night we would have lost...I know you can say that about others, but I just didn't see his name mentioned yet.
On an initial one month loan...get him signed up for the rest of the season Jim !!!!

Big Jim's contract extension?
at 16:48 26 Jul 2024

Yes he's a really nice bloke. But that doesn't cut it. He needs to change his tactics in order to excite the fans.
How many times do we have the chance to put the ball in the box when attacking and our player will pass it instead, or we then lose the ball, or the ball finds it's way back to the keeper? Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat...
I could go on and on regarding other unexciting tactics.

IT HAS TO CHANGE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
