At this point I am prepared to just walk away. Wycombe played funny buggers last summer and January for Low who they subsequently lost for nothing. And they have been doing the same again with Kone this window. I'm all for clubs trying to get the best deal they can for their players, but there are ways to do it and ways not to do it. AAB with Widell kept negotiations quiet, they provided proof to the club that others had made enquiries and they agreed a buy plus loan back deal. Wycombe by comparison have dragged this through the media trying to attract every Tom, Dick and Harry into taking part in a bidding war and delayed and dithered on the negotiations so much its now moved into the start of the Championship season meaning the player has now been deprived of both pre season conditioning and training time with his new team mates. |

This is exactly whats happened. It is no coincidence this came out almost immediately after the news of us (allegedly) putting in two offers for Jusef came out. Wycombe now moving into damage control mode. A player who wants to move on to a higher league who feels the club are unfairly holding him back after his standout season, he has only one year left on his contract and the club would be lucky to get 1m for him in January if he doesn't hit the ground running. Even 3m would be optimistic now but at least they would be able to reasonably demand a decent sell on fee. |

Vipotnik has a cannon of a right foot, we saw that when he scored against (I think) Derby and in that volley that was quite harshly ruled out for offside in the friendly on the weekend. He strikes me more of a striker who would play best paired with a target man who can get to knockdowns and cute little touches to put him through. |

Not the first time that sides have dodged EFL sanctions because they went up despite breaking financial fair play rules and the EFL didn't have the authority to punish a Premier League side. They thought they were clever when they argued that loophole last time, the Premier League and EFL closed that loophole after that and I hope they get their just desserts. I honestly feel that none of the three sides coming down are head and shoulders above the rest of the Championship next season. Especially if Leicester get slapped with a 10-15pt deduction then I don't see them being so much better than the rest that they can still clinch automatic promotion. |

Criminally misused by Williams, his best performances when he first joined us were on the right wing where he showed that he had plenty of pace and could bend in a mean cross low and fast between the defenders and the keeper. After those promising performances he was then used as a second (or sometimes even third) choice striker when we had been screaming out for pace and creativity on the wing. Whether that hit his confidence and then Sheehan had his settled first choices in Eom on the left and Ronald on the right is anyone's guess, but with Issouna almost certainly going to be first choice on the left and Eom moved into the hole in the number 10 role that leaves Parker, Ronald and Bianchini all competing for one space on the right wing. |

Not signing someone like this could come back to haunt us |

It does look like the article has been amended now to give credit to the Swedish journalists who did the original interview |

Fascinating. I have never heard of a deal being publicly announced like this so far ahead of the transfer window before. I can only assume that we have conditions in there entitling us to have the option to pull out of the transfer should he suffer some serious injury while still playing for Hacken. |

The man also has no common sense. Remember when he was quoted in live interviews telling the press that we had agreed to sign Rushworth for another season but his club didn't have the faintest clue about it? |

Welcome aboard. I know he is currently nursing a foot injury, but I wonder if this means that he won't play for them again since the Swedish league is in full swing right now. He isn't OUR player until July 1st after all |

Primarily through being on a constant upward trend, also they didn't walk into a perfect storm like we did when we got promoted and survived that first season where Liverpool came into the end of a disappointing season and were looking for a refresh. If Liverpool hadn't come in for Rodgers then there's no other club in the Premier League who would have realistically been able to poach him that were looking to fill the vacancy. Of course history might have worked out totally differently, we wouldn't have signed Michu or Chico or de Guzman for starters as they all came from Laudrup's contacts and knowledge of the Spanish league. |

For some reason I remembered it being higher. When I refer to inflation though I am not referring to Bank of England inflation, just like with every other piece of financial common sense football completely ignores the laws of physics on this. In 2010 the biggest fee for a striker was 40 million Euros for David Villa. The biggest signing in the Championship was David Jones for 5 million when he signed for Reading. In the summer of 2024 the biggest purchase was Mike Tresor by Burnley for 16 million. That's more than 300% of what was paid by Reading just 14 years prior. So while 5 million is a significant amount of money for us, its also not passively out of line with what I had thought we paid for Sinclair (1.5m) |

With Allen, Naughton, McLaughlin and Christie gone the only player in the whole team over the age of 26 is Ginnelly and its seemingly touch and go if we will ever see him in a Swans shirt again. The club is in desperate need of an experienced head or two who doesn't mind not being involved every week but can step in when needed. Such a player would likely have minimal if any fee and low wages, someone on Phil's site suggested Pearson from Huddersfield who is leaving on a free this summer would fit that kind of profile. |

Inflation considered its probably on par with the 1.5m we paid for Sinclair back in the day from Chelsea |

There is much that can be said about the owners, but steps to cut our cloth and not gambling on an early return to the Premier League is proving to be one of their better decisions, especially in light of the COVID-19 situation. That said Jazz Richards is definitely not on the list of players I would like to see at the Liberty next season right alongside Neil "20 minutes to take a throw" Taylor. |

...the Swansea City medical team. Seems that they have a cut man that would make any boxer jealous the way that they patched up Joe in like 2 minutes. |

There is also the psychological effect on opposing teams when the gap is two or more goals compared to when they are only one behind. While a lot of the time this season we have closed out one goal leads, there have been many occasions when we have not and many of those were teams throwing the kitchen sink at us because they were only one down - if they were down by two or three then usually most teams will just focus on not picking up daft injuries or cards that will hurt them in the next game. |
