New owners must have their own man they want in charge.
He's got about 4 days to assemble a full squad in time for the game against Alty on Saturday. I could imagine Derek Adams managing to assemble such a squad with his connections. No idea who they've got in mind to be manager now, but that's a heck of an ask. Perhaps the circus isnt over, it's just about to begin.
I remember Dean Windass would do this - shout at the keeper as he closed them down. We've needed a striker who is an absolute horror to play against for a long time. One that knows all the tricks and dark arts. And where the goal is. Mani D is all of that and I love it.
I went to the game. Barrow are a very well drilled, established league 2 side and we went toe-to-tie with them and at no point looked inferior. Barlow should've scored after rounding the keeper in the first half but hit the side netting. Lots of possession particularly in the first half and mostly moving the ball forwards. Second half as is often the case after a host of subs, things became disjointed. I thought Humbles looked very good when he came on.
maybe for the keeper spot? Left Barrow this summer after years of loyal service. Would join up with Lillis and now Jason Taylor who were both at Barrow previously.
I have a feeling Linney will make the move to an upper League 2 next season - or maybe even League One, he reminds me of a Peterborough-type signing. That said, Posh signed Chris Conn Clarke last summer from Alty and he's not kicked on.
Nick Haughton is bound to be a popular target - 3rd top scorer and 3rd top assister for a relegated side, and he's consistently up there every season. Not sure where he would fit in with our system and team though. Its the big man up front we need to prioritise, although any team with Haughton in it will benefit at this level.
Exactly. They don't seem to learn as they sacked Simmo shortly after a trasnfer deadline day when he'd recruited a load of new players.
Williamson had made 11 or 12 new signings In Jan, many of which are players he'd managed before from Gateshead days, or other similar close connections. Now he's gone, its a very odd situation for a new manager to come in to.
I'm glad we aren't facing Cardwell on Saturday as I thought he was excellent last season for them. The fact he's barely played for FGR (maybe he's been injured?) yet they are sitting second in the table shows how strong their squad is.
The positive display last week and the good performance from the Sheffield United lad gives me confidence that despite a mounting injury list, we should be firing on all cylinders. I just hope we dont pick up any more injuries!
I live in Barrow and can 100% corroborate this. Apprenticeship schemes will pay for degree level qualifications and a lab impressive starting salary. There has been a brain drain in the town to a degree though - plenty of teachers and similar professions leaving to work “at the yard” as the pay and job security is unparalleled around here
I can appreciate both arguments here, but for me the challenge Armstrong does right at the start of the highlights is far far worse - he's high, he's late and he's not in control.
Yet this didn't even get pulled back for a retrospective yellow.
Yep its goosed. I bet the Bromley screening they tweeted about further up this thread is scuppered - they'll be watching it via the streaming too - or not watching is more accurately!
First time streaming the match tonight - can't see where on the National League TV site I can actually click to watch? Im logged in and I've bought the match pass...
The disallowed Walsall goal - defender drags down Lloyd at far post as corner comes in. Watch the highlights, it’s a very clear foul and correct decision
