Ben has missed pre-season, Santos also out leaves us dangerously short so I get a loan cover signing.
Both will also take time to get up to match fitness. I'm just starting to get concerned about what sort of a niggle Ben has got, how long he is going to be out for and how the niggle is going to be managed.
Burgess and Cabango I presume are first choice and we have bought Santos.
Unless either Burgess or Cabango are injured, Cabango is leaving or has a long term injury then he will be at best a bench warmer instead of a player we have signed.
Are there any clubs other than those with parachute money that can afford the sort of wages players like them are asking for? Even with parachute money it's a gamble, not only on the player but the impact on the rest of the squad.
I'm guessing some clubs are holding back in the hope that if there are no early takers that they will drop their wage demands at a later date. Others will accept that there may be a stampede later in the window and look to sort out their squads now. Which one are we?
I dont necessarily agree. That could potentially leave the club in a precarious position if the freehold is bought by a third party company which can sell the ground separately to the club. See the mess Coventry City got into.
I believe that FIFA is a totally corrupt organisation. My belief is that the likes of Infantino are no different to Blatter or Havelange and that the same people that voted them in are voting in Infantino. I may be a cynic but I believe that in the multi million pound business that of international football that there are a lot of kickbacks, brown envelopes or dogs with healthy bank accounts.
I wouldn't put Infantino in charge of the tea kitty where I work.
It's a tactical signing. If Freddie is happy to pick up a more than tidy wage that will set him up for the rest of his life if managed properly and not play any meaningful football for the length of his contract that is his decision.
I can only assume something wasn't right behind the scenes.
Was a strange signing as not prolific for any team and didn't seem to fit the way we were looking to play. Manager and recruitment not in sync? Maybe ok for the last 10 mins when behind and throwing the kitchen sink at the opposition.
