Colback and Fox - Are they gone already ??
at 18:14 2 Aug 2025

Top ITK-ing, Fox on the pitch at halftime took me by surprise, they hadn't even had time to print a shirt for him!

2004/5 Binatone and 2010/11 Gulfair, we also wore blue shorts with the hoops - away, and very occasionally, I think - someone must have the same vague 'I remember blue, you're not my daughter, have I had my tea' recollection as I do...

season ticket resell
at 23:26 30 Jul 2025

The point is that ST seats are non-transferable and the club has, each season, imposed tighter restrictions on mechanisms for reselling.

Now I can't officially sell my seat to someone else, I can't even give it away (in fact, legally I don't actually 'own' it at all) - I can't think of any other ticket or purchase that behaves like this.

In retrospect, Twickets as the official reseller was great, wasn't it?

"one good Rumarn, there's only one good Rumarn"

Originally coined for Antonio, wasn't it, and then briefly tried out for Polter?

New 3rd Shirt…
at 17:07 26 Jul 2025

Okay, you size gurus:

every Errea shirt I've bought (and eek - that is a lot) has been XL, which seems to be 42/43in with a loose fit (although the last DtM was particularly generous; three pickleball sessions a week - must be working). Suddenly though, the new green kit is saying XL = 46in.

£73 is an expensive mistake if they have genuinely resized, so anyone bought one and can advise please? I'm a standard Large in adidas/nike etc. Ta!

Thank you, thank you (takes bow).

I think my success is largely due to Lisbon forgetting to enter several sessions; a truer reflection of my prognosticative abilities is that I finished 127th in the LFW Fantasy League WHICH I RUN MYSELF...

Deeply unfashionable things that are…not bad, actually
at 14:10 15 Jun 2025

Vintage long case clocks.

Nothing says 'fuddy-duddy' as much as a grandfather clock, but for half the price of an everyday Rolex Sub, you can have something built by hand during the reign of George III, more polished mahogany than the Long Room at Lords, chimes written by Gershwin, a pendulum swing smoother than a Federer backhand and a tick-tock that marks your time on this earth like Phileas Fogg plotting a course around the world with calipers on a Mercator map.

Glorious.

Ah, maybe just me then...

Hopefully not 55 years, like the great Sir Billy Boston...

Still does his own shopping at Tesco, 90, and 10 years into dementia; still causes a trolley jam down the frozen aisle with people stopping to wish him well. Nicest man you could hope to meet.

No tea, but a substantial upgrade on the old Family Circle tin nowadays - Club biscuits and even Mini Cheddars at the DW - you need to be booking a year ahead for appointments.

LFW FFL Winner 2025

Loudly let the trumpets bray, Tantantara (yes, there is a prize for recognising the quote - it is shame).

Congratulations to Ian C's Loftus Roadrunners - top of the pile and a real old-school no-Chelsea-players-all-season performance.

Ian, if you DM me, I'll sort out your AOF QPR t-shirt (or the cash, if you'd rather. Yes, me too).

Shout outs also for first and second losers: Peter M's Bomb Squad (I assume this is some sort of Kneecap-style irony) and Zack McC's Mack City. Fine efforts, gentlemen.

Many thanks to all that took part - we seem to have over 250 participants now (which in no way mitigates my own dismal 151th place finish) - I hope to see you all next term.

Thanks too to Clive, who creates the space where all of this happens.

Hopefully it's Cardinal Pizzaballa, as that's going to make it pretty straightforward coming up with a name for his style of football.

Superb taste, sir, but John Lobb are now in the 4-figure bracket, and even a pair of Tricker's country brogues will set you back 550 notes these days.

Cheaney and Grenson triple welt are still UK made and slightly more affordable though. Slightly.

The whole of the Northern rail network is only an audio guide and a mutton-chopped stationmaster away from being a Heritage Railway. They might as well start selling tea-towels and jam in the ticket offices.

Elvis Costello released 'Every Day I Write the Book' in 1983.

His only book was published in 2015.

Assuming he was telling the truth in 1983, that's only just over 5 words per day...
