Are We Going Toulouse? Match Thread
at 09:03 19 Jul 2025

I think that there are places in the Team for both (Field & Varane) of them playing together.......

As for last nights game.....I never saw it live but watched the highlights which tbh were pretty poor so I cannot comment on the performance of the players and I would not want to. BUT, I am very pleased with the result, the boys need to improve their confidence, not sure what sort of side Toulouse put out there (Was it a trial match for them, did they take it seriuosly, what was the Managers plans and so on). Looking at it purely from our side it was the result we needed, shocked at some of the Team selections but I do not know the coaches plans overall - for sure he wants to see the players, etc in a game situation but I was still shocked at the Team selection. Lot of comments about the pitch, from the poor highlights I thought it was not green but it was flat & even and not a bobbly pitch so no real objections from me.

Looking forward to seeing a better viewing of the next match against Cardiff which should be very interesting.

Rather shocked at the comments re the girls playing the boys, etc, etc.

The season just past my grandson, who plays Junior Premier League football at U13?? level, on Saturdays. It is very decent standard indeed. They played the Arsenal U14's girl's team a year older than the boys, home and away. Arsenal had about 6 coaches/physio's, 100 of football's, bibs, all the bottles of drink, warmed up with 3 or 4 coaches, goalkeeping coach, the lot basically,- what it was costing Arsenal I would not like to estimate but it was as near professional as you could see for that level. They had girls playing that were representing their counties, somebody said that a couple were England U 14 players(??), training 2/3 times a week, been away to other countries in tournments apparently, everything basically........the home score was 6-0 and extremely easy, I did not go to the away match but it was very comfortable as well. What I would say, is that technically some of them were only just behind the boys but physically in all aspects apart from one of two of them they could not live with the boys.

Now I am not knoocking the girls at all, I found it very interesting indeed, just sharing some detail about girl's professional clubs football.....shocked how much money must be being 'pumped' into girl's fottball considering this is just one team in the Arsenal set up for girls.....probably 6 or seven more age groups.

I thought the ref last night made a few pretty bad decisions that I would not have been too pleased with if they had gone against me or my team.......the womens game has got better for sure but it is still pretty average. Those two goals that we conceded last night highlighted the level(s) their game is at....this is top European football.

Really, have you seen some of the comments on this very message board about men footballers, football clubs, etc, etc, etc. That is OK is it???

You are talking absolute rubbish.

Habit is probably why I watch QPR and hope........

I enjoyed it last night too, massively entertaining is well OTT as far as I am concerned, but it was basically rubbish football and no comparison to QPR. I do, however, get fed up with all this 'bigging it up' and women getting involved in Men's football.

Don't normally watch women's football because basically it is rubbish football, a standard non league team would win very easily indeed (6-0 at least) but thought I would give it a go.

Well, we started like a 11 year boys old team would make making mistake after mistake defensively. But generally we were very poor indeed during most of the match. The penalties were poor, kids stuff too.

Got away with going through against a better Swedish team.

In saying that I enjoyed the watch, it was different. Congratulations to the Team.

Well, many posters have gotten their way and Paal is now history. Despite the nonsense being written about him on this thread.

I hope we get somebody better to replace this lad because he was a very good footballer, available most weeks, worked hard up & down the line, put some nice goalscoring crosses into the box and it goes on.

Steve Bould mic’d up

Ha Ha......

Excellent session by Bould, educating the players on the field of play, getting them to play as he (& the other coaches) want the boys to play in certain situations, more intense than i have experienced,

We may have a good addition to the coaching side of the Club in Steve Bould. I like what I have seen since MC left the Club.

I had a 'lot of time for MC, a lot, but what he did by going to WBA (if he did) is very wrong and I am extremely disappointed and basically 'fxxx him'.

I do not care if it goes on or why it goes on, it is wrong and sadly my respect for MC has diminished and could not give a shite about him any more.

The Dangers of Summer Football

It is not just money......Children (U16s) are playing tournaments throughout the summer (this is to get their club money to run the Club), playing friendlies, club trials, training.......basically it never stops.

Personally, I do not think it is a good thing.

Madsen interview
at 17:15 15 Jul 2025

He found it tough, just like many players did during the season, he is not a player that runs & runs, dashes here & there, he is a technical player and he is good. It took him time to get adjusted to Championship, English style football but he has enough technically to succeed & I think he could.....good luck to him, he comes across as a good man.

I'm in the different camp.....I believe that we assembled a decent squad overall. The main issue that we hav , that I can see, is we need a striker. Frey is the only one that I believe is 'about' up to scratch.....the others are not good enough despite me being a bit harsh about Kelman who 'fair play' to him done quite well in the 1st Division.

Keep fit, add a striker and we should be ok & better. Sign Colback and I would be very happy indeed.
