 | Forum Reply | Jonathan Varane contract extension at 07:24 9 May 2025
Varane has been good, bad & indifferent this season......goes backwards too much but should improve a be a better player with more game time & experience. I fully support an extension to his contract, he has shown good potential and may prove to be an excellent overall signing. Well done Rangers. |

Most of this stuff is speculation, yes there may be a snippet here and there but I would not expect players or agents (or Club officials) to be openly discussing their old or, certainly not, their new contracts that are on the table. What is for sure is that he was not agreeable with the contract that has been offered by the Club, either because of the length of the contract, some of the terms or the pay. My view is that his new contract should no go outside of the Club's thresholds even as 'big' as he is to us.......he is no Eze as a player and would find life very difficult in the Premiership. He has been a pretty decent championship defender playing at RB......a lot different skills needed for a Premiership defender. I would suggest he would find life very difficult indeed, back-up at best. A big asset of JD is his heading and tackling.......a RB in the Premier doesn't do much of that but they do have very good technical ability. |

Maybe he is being harsh (Not sure why he would be though) and I 'get' that he got many goals in Div1.......that is why I finished by saying he probably/possibly deserves another chance here. |

Exactly, says a lot about the individual who posted it. |

Understood, BUT there is no need for stuff like Punter is doing, it says a lot about the individual.......poor play indeed!!! |

What you on about Numpty?? What do you dislike in my post?? I thought it was pretty fair. |

Is this really necessary Punter........ As it happens I find some of the stuff written about Nourry to be unbelievable (not saying it is) and wonder how so many posters know so much about the 'inner workings' of the Club. [Post edited 6 May 9:24]

Strikers are generally more costly other players in the Team. These players, Cook & JCS, that apparently come on a free, when they renew their contracts generally get very decent sign on fees.......nothing comes free any more. As far as strikers....the Club must do better as far as I am concerned. [Post edited 5 May 14:42]

I do not know about finances but reading this MB I understand Cook is on 'good wedge', JCS is no doubt on good wages with his new contract and his background. A 'proper' CF is 20 goals a season man, good movement, pace, skills, take on/dribbling past defenders.....that's what I want. Agreed Frey could well have gotten a few goals, not so sure about Celar who was pretty poor all season, he even missed a penalty to ger his goalscoring off the zero mark!!! Kolli is not the answer, average at best, back-up at most. Our forward signings, as stated, have been poor. |

It has been a pretty poor overall season for the lad, he has got good technical ability, more than most of our side, he is getting better, his last few games have shown the ability that he has, a well taken goal at Sunderland. It is very poor how 'so called' supporters have been on his case massive. |

Disappointing season hampered massively by our injuries otherwise we could have made good progress this season and totally ruined by the Nourry/MC clash that I understand has occurred. [Post edited 5 May 13:37]

Dykes & Armstrong are very limited players and it was good business to move them out of the Club. |

I believe most strongly that if we had a 20 goal CF in the team we would be a top ten team or even higher in the Championship.......contrary to many posters I think that we have a pretty decent squad of players when fit but just a little light in back-up players which is why we ended up in low mid table. I do not understand why so many recent managers have not signed a 'proper' CF and forgone costly CB's and defensive midfielders - I cannot remember our last decent CF. |

I met a person a couple of months ago who is a Orient season ticket holder and follows them away as well, so he has seen a lot of Kelman this season. He seemed to know his football. He was not overly impressed by him despite his excellent goalscoring record this season. Likewise I have seen him in an R's shirt a few times and it is only a few times but I, too, am not impressed by his play. I think he has been pretty poor when he has played for us. In saying the above, perhaps we should give him another chance here, he possibly deserves it but I do not think that he will be anywhere good enough for regular Championship football. |

Who cares Hunter??? |

No I am not Colbacks agent.....i just think that he is a very decent player and a big asset for the Club. He was better that many that wore the hoops against Burnley, much better. |
