Interesting take, we were so much better when Field was available! Never hides, gives 100%, does all the hard yards and chips in with the occasional goal. We’ll have to agree to disagree but our bad spell coincided with his absence. |

Agreed, it’s patent nonsense to suggest a team currently on 42 points will suddenly go on a winning streak on get 9 points from 5 games, that’s promotion form! |

Just not happening if you look at all the fixtures and who plays who. In your scenario Derby beating Pompey etc, it keeps Pompey below us etc etc. I think 46/47 will be 3rd bottom. Edit, used this and without another point we finish 18th, 3 points above the drop. https://thefishy.co.uk/calc.php [Post edited 10 Apr 19:13]

With you on that. Trouble is we’re trying the Brentford/Brighton method of stats but that takes years of work and we’ll get fed up soon and go off in yet another direction. Trouble is you do need a few old heads in this division to compete and we don’t really have that, Cook and Colback apart who are probably past it now (Colback especially although he played well on Saturday). |

I’m not convinced he’ll be on anybody’s radar bearing in mind our league position and that he’s been in charge all season. I know injuries have been an issue this year but can’t see fans of other clubs welcoming him with open arms having finished 16th with QPR! |

Who exactly are you pointing the finger at? I saw a decent back 4, Colback and Field did ok in midfield, Lloyd did his best against their monstrous back 4, Smyth was Smyth, young Yang tried but to no avail, Anderson was off the pace but don’t think it was due to a lack of effort. IMHO it was just a poor game between 2 poor sides. [Post edited 5 Apr 21:03]

Brian, that’s how I saw it. We went to pieces when the subs came on, just goes to show how poor our squad is! I can’t question the attitude of the players today but it was a bad game between 2 appalling teams and to me said a lot that at the end there was some booing from our fans but their fans celebrated like they’d won! |

I’ve been having this conversation for years with a pal of mine, also an R’s fan, they really want an 18/20 team closed league, something like this; 4”big” London teams 2 from the West Mids, say Villa and Wolves 2 from the East Mids, say Forest and Derby (for the rivalry) 2 from Manchester 2 from Liverpool Newcastle and Sunderland Leeds and Sheff W (for the rivalry) Saints and Pompey (again for the rivalry) And finally, perhaps Norwich and Ipswich |
