I remember going to Macclesfield to watch the Swans , open terrace behind the goal. |
 | Forum Reply | Swansea City : Manuel Benson and his injury struggles we hope are now behind him at 18:22 3 Sep 2025
That , I think will be crucial going forward , certainly from Benson's point of view as he has had some bad ones . I have had 3 achilles tendon ops but a good surgeon/consultant got me back to where i was before . If he has made a FULL recovery from his achilles problems then there should not be any issues . Constant dialogue with him will be essential and obviously a lot of monitoring . Many achilles problems can be caused by simple things like wearing the wrong type of footwear - avoid anything that causes friction however small at the back of the heel as this will eventually cause tendonitis and failure of the tendon. |

Yes I agree , He's a big powerful lad who I think at times needs to convince himself that he belongs here at this level . The more he plays the better his anticipation will get in my opinion but if he does improve his standing start speed and anticipation then potentially he could blow defences away. Hard work is everything though and he 's got to want it badly - that goal on Saturday will have done him the world of good. If I was Sheehan I would be taking him to one side and telling him how good that was and praising him /bigging him up . Sometimes players need reassuring and praise to get them out of their shells and performing to their best. This is where good managers recognise the time to step in and get the best from their players. |

8 out of 10m chances converted by a striker occur when he gets ahead of his marker . This is the secret . Get across the last defender get your head / foot to the ball before he does. it requires bravery and strength to hold off a defender's challenge but more importantly it requires speed . I am not talking about 100m flat out speed but speed over ten yards that's it . If i was Vip I would do sprint reps from a standing start over no more than 10 yards . Face your own goal , on the word go , turn and sprint flat out 10 yards towards opposite goal . Repeat without turning but always from a standing start . 25 reps of each per session . How many times have we seen him slide in fractionally late to the ball missing the chance there were 2 of these on Saturday . i guarantee if he improves his standing start speed the goals will come. Andy Gray the ex Villa striker was a master of this . |

I watched Southampton's team the other day They had a 19 year old up front tall rangy looked very capable and showed physicality and bravery something which ours have not shown enough of at times. if you are good enough you are old enough. What about Kyrell Wilson ? should have played v Crawley to see what he is capable of . |

I went to a rugby world cup qualifier game Wales v Western Samoa in Cardiff back in the 80s . I was sitting in the stand a good 25 metres from the action . You could hear the tackles from the Samoans in the stand . It was the hardest display of tackling Ive ever seen and that includes watching the All blacks Australia S.A and all the home nations It wasnt dirty or late but devastatingly hard . I winced as I watched. 2 Welsh players went off injured after being hit hard but fair . Wales lost . I think Pat Lam was the westetn Samoan no.8. It gave rise to the joke Thank God we were only playing Westetn Samoa not the whole of Samoa! |

This is exactly how Birmingham are setting up . Chris Davies has a plan and sticks to it basically in your face aggressive defence high press and force the errors. Replace certain players on 60 mins midfield/wing backs /striker . It seems to be working so far but injuries suspensions all play a part.Fitness and sram8na is key as us a large /versatile squad |

Their midfield is very strong . They have a lot of strength in depth but making 10 changes last nlght played more into Brums hands. The goal by Hamer for S.U was world class. Anyone who hasnt seen it should go on you tube and have a look Very few players could have scored that. Brum play very aggressive " in your face " football at all times. They then use their squad strength to make the max number of changes to ensure the energy levels dont drop. They are very organised and every player knows their job to the letter. Selles the S.U manager looked like a rabbit in the headlights at times as wave after wave of Brum attacks swept forward. S.U were hanging on grimly and things got quite fiesty . I dont think there is much love lost between S.U and Brum on last nights showing. S.U are prone to errors at the back conceding after a mistake by the full back last night. .We will have to match their workrate and our defence has to be watertight .Everyone will have to be on their A game as I fear a possible backlash 2 defeats in a row They will be hurting and looking to put things right. |

There was an article in the Mail today outlining what an illegal immigrant can claim and get. It was mind boggling all funded by the taxpayer. Includes free driving lessons mobile phone football tickets free martial arts lessons immediate access to food banks access to all health services .When housed in social housing all their utility bills gas electric tv water council tax are free ! Not to mention legal aid Its unsustainable and in my opinion designed to break Britons' morale and bankrupt the country so that they can bring in new laws / regulations to gain more powers over us . This is not a party political rage its more than that the future of our country is at stake and the sooner we wake up and realise the better. Everything in this country is upside down by design . The political parties DO NOT represent us . A day of reckoning is drawing nearer and we all have to stand up and be counted or we wont have a country left not as we know it anyway. Many years ago there was a site on line called EU Truth.org . I used to go on there occasionally . I remember reading an article where the main founder of the site basically stated that the EU was trying to turn GB into a second class nation and a dumping ground for immigrants . An island where Europe's flotsam and jetsam could be jettisoned . Allied to this was the deliberate running down of Britain's industrial base the talking up of the EU and the denigrating of British nationalism and sense of heritage. All this was done purposely to relegate GB to a third rate island colony to be populated by ever increasing numbers of immigrants. I took it all with a grain of salt but fast forward a decade or 2 and it is starting to make a lot more sense. People will say ....But we have left the EU . Brexit in its true sense has not been implemented and the wishes of the people have not been taken into account. Labour and the Conservatives are opposite sides of the same coin . They both take their orders from the EU. Which has not gone away but is still pulling the strings of Starmer and co. The people are being fooled , Starmer has no intention of stopping the boats - it's all part of the plan and we the taxpayers are funding it whether we like it or not. We need a general strike and mass mobilisation to show that the people are totally dissatisfied wit what is going on . Sept 13 there is a demo I believe not before time. |

RE. Casey ... When he makes a pass to a colleague he is always on the move on his toes so to speak. Ready in case the player gets dispossessed or loses possession . I think he will only get better here and is a future star in the making. |
