It's only August and Julien is already being sent to Coventry - Match Thread

Early symptom of this whole s-show this season is preferring Walsh to Nardi who had a decent first season and did not deserve to be dropped. Clear message to players that form matters far less than 'profile' (ugh) of player you are. Rotten.

7! Gallows humour: Field at left full back at least better than where Critchley once put him: right wing! In no way competitive at all.

Definition of schoolboy error from Morgan passing across back four. Suppose have to remember he is still a teenager. And also today's fashion of pissballing around means plenty of square passes like that. Grrim.

Rangers the opposite of compact. Huge holes for Watford to enjoy.

Liam Morrison. Their centre forward peels off the back of him. Also no pressure on crosser Louza by Mbengue.

Chloe Kelly so composed and enjoys her football. Also check out this QPR mention in interview before the Q-final:

Madsen interview

Jimmy Dunne and Steve Cook put in a very good light by the interview. They picked up a teammate up when he was down, being both professional and human.

My personal view is that it is far more important Clive gets a lengthy one-on-one interview with the new coach than there is a pre-season Fans Forum.

Careful, plausible way of speaking. The 'Look...' at the start of some answers and general presentation clearly shows media training. There is nothing wrong with that but means fans should not expect any spontaneity or obvious passion. Again, nothing wrong with having a cool head not a hot head at the top of the club but you lose the human element. If CN liked Cifuentes, he would have said that Marti did a fantastic job saving Rangers from relegation not once but twice.

A player who could pick a pass and played with his head up. Made him invaluable when he first came in. Now we have Madsen who does the same and hope he continues his late season surge in form into 25/6.

Loved Shoot, especially player questionnaires. The answer to 'Favourite Food' was usually Scampi. Had a subscription to 'The Victor' with the best strip being 'Tough of the Track' featuring working class hero Alf Tupper who was always beating toffs in the mile.

Over-reaction to say this as bad as Ainsworth era. But still bad. Bring on Alfie Lloyd and Yang right now and jettison Dembele and Anderson.

So player of the season?
at 19:47 22 Mar 2025

Because of consistency of appearance and performance, has to be either Nardi or Dunne. I'd go with Dunne...there's some stat out there that he has more goal attempts than any other Rs player this season. But it's close as Nardi has had a superb debut season with some amazing saves but it's true does not dominate when crosses come in.

Smyth has been great and always makes team more solid and therefore better when he plays. But form bit up and down. Nowhere near POTY.

Fast start meets fraught end in the battle of logic versus vibes - Report

I like the long throws by Smyth.

Is it glorious Dave Sexton 75/6 total football? No.

But it's effective and the tactic allowed for the room to create the 2nd goal.

After, the game Marti said Smyth was taken off early because of an ankle injury. Didn't look hurt though!

Just surmising here, but maybe Nourry/Cifuentes tension partially the result of the youthful CEO loaning Yang in deal with promises to play him.

Also think we were better for Chair ruled out by injury. Meant we went back to basics and Clive Dunn 'they don't like it up 'em' attitude.

Last note: as Clive said, Farke told reporters after game he got his team selection wrong. If I understood him, the German thinks he should have been more solid and defensive in midfield but instead went for attacking approach to blow us away. And Leeds paid for that lack of respect. Idealism versus Pragmatism again, the Marti conundrum visited on the opposing team.

Agree to disagree. Frey is awkward but very effective and scores goals. And has skill. You can't judge a book...! I get he is not a clinical finisher, but there are very few of those around. And he DOES press which a lot of times is getting somewhat near defenders to up pressure from the front, rather than being uber-athletic whippet Greyhound.
