Good grief what's with all this.
I think we can assume that all the football clubs in question are well over the VAT registration threshold. And you claim your output VAT back within a quarter. I doubt Premier League clubs are suffering such tight cashflow that this deal would cause a problem. |

You pay it and then you get it back. I don't think HMRC would be at all interested - there's no loss. It's not like stamp duty on land sales. |

Not really sure what the big deal is here.
It's clearly a penalty according to the laws because it was deliberate, ie he knowingly moved towards the ball. It doesn't matter where his arm was and neither does it matter what might have happened in other games.

I've not missed the point at all, but it's a hardly a revelation. Two goals a game is a very high bar - a team in the Championship with that strike rate will invariably finish top two and it doesn't even happen every season. |
