I've been thinking about this post and enjoying reading the replies immensely. Its what makes football outside the top division so special. Forgive me James but "lower league player gets lucky playing against a team playing in a higher league…….. signs for them …….. plays a relatively small amount of games for them in a team that …….. to be fair ……. is very average despite being in the top league at the time. Almost 50 years later a relative mentions that said player is approaching a milestone birthday …… and a dozen or more people post a variety of memories and photos about that player remembering pretty remarkable things (for a player that played less than 20 games for his new club) because he played for us and he cared" Lovely. This club is ace and happy birthday Brian thank you for for being an R and being part of our history [Post edited 4 Sep 22:08]

This is a great thread and a wonderful idea. I watched Brain play several times in a poor QPR side. He always put in a shift and certainly never let us down. Good luck with your plans. And best wishes to Brian too. Chris Guy is your man as many others have said! [Post edited 3 Sep 21:15]

My recently departed Dad spent his entire QPR supporting life never quite getting the names of any of our players quite right when he spoke of them. He would have appreciated a checklist such as this. Thank you [Post edited 3 Sep 8:43]

This is entirely from memory and I haven't looked it up but I think we were home to Man Utd that day, finished 1-1. |

Apart from 2003/4 season missing the football detail was often the best outcome mate. They were great fun if you couldn't actually make the game! |

Having been a regular user of .org and then dot.org I moved here at a point when traffic sort of dried up. Ben and DG did a good job of sustaining. Those boards had a lot of good people (& obviously a few tw@ts) but the Saturday afternoon game chat on dial up was hilarious. NYStan, Hud and DM were my particular favourites. Stan in New York knowing about a goal from the offish comms sometimes 2 or 3 minutes head of me on Lincolnshire comms continues to mess with my head! A lot moved over here I'm guessing around 2008 (who knows!). This place over other social media options keeps me (a little more) sane. As always a healthy prompt to say 'thanks Clive' |

I hadn't even realised he'd been sacked by Bradford nearly 2 years ago! Pretty sure ive even looked out for their results since then and had some smug satisfaction they'd lost ….. and he wasn't even there! |

Have used the shuttle bus a couple of times. Queues and clunky. Seem to recall most walking routes include dual carriageways. Last time I used the bus was after the 6-1 defeat. Not a non-yorkshire word was spoken during the journey. I'd get a return cab next time! |

Absolutely destroyed the Venables legacy. But he gave us Bannister, Byrne, Forest at home and THAT Newcastle game. Beyond that he was a complete clusterfck; up there with Hart, Hughes, Bosingwa, Chris Wright and Vinnie Jones in the "if they were on fire" category [Post edited 25 Sep 2024 19:24]

Rhayader to Devils Bridge via Cwmystwyth - through the Cambrian mountains. Often featured on Top Gear etc. Stunning views, little traffic, waterfalls and 'big hills' but don't tell anyone! [Post edited 22 Aug 2024 9:17]

When I spoke with the Box Office 10 or so ago we had reached around 7000. Expectations were we'd get to 8000 ish by the end of the 'loyalty window'. With a further uptick once new applications are processed |

On first watch I thought it was the most poorly executed of dives. But agree, having seen the replay (a few times ;-) ) keeper caught Freys heel with his head. I have no idea whether that constitutes a penalty but it does vindicate Frey (& exclude him from the Olympic diving squad) No matter, as you say, but another twist in a quite emotional and incredible night! Oh and yes another exceptional report Clive! thank you [Post edited 8 Mar 2024 11:42]

When my youngest was born and she was in high dependency care I pretty much lived in Leicester for best part of a month. Got to know the landlord at the Bowling Green (you'll have to google it mind) who basically invited me to drop in whenever I wanted to charge phone, have a change of scenery and a chat if needed. It became, and remains, one of my favourite pubs despite being a bit 'chainy'. If memory serves correctly it's about a 10 minute walk to the ground. Decent enough food, and beer and plenty of space inside. Bloody decent landlord (and still was pretty good when I was last in a year or so ago). |

In the back streets to the right of the ground there are lots of streets which have parking in lock ups, church car parks, school car parks. There is a big pay and display just around the corner next to the rugby ground - all not bad for getting back on the main ring road |
