Here's my solution, if I had been asked to be the OP's editor... Thread title: Midfield change (applause emoji or something else complimentary) Body copy: Fair play to Stéphan for pivoting to Varane/Madsen in the midfield. Small sample size and against, shall we say, advantageous competition, but horses for courses, and it's been positive. It came at the expense of Field, who has done much for us in the past, thank you very much for that, but his role needed to change in the present day. Hope to see continued success from this new way forward (pun sort of intended). End of. Might be a bit boring for online discourse. But so what. I guess I'm happy that in this thread and the "How did Madsen play" thread, the majority of posters have rallied around the players (Field here, Madsen there). Let's keep embracing that attitude, especially after a pair of 3-1 victories! [Post edited 15 Sep 6:31]

I also saw Caught Stealing this week. Exact same score for me, 8/10. Certainly not a typical Aronofsky film but given some of his output that’s probably a good thing? I was enthralled throughout … my wife didn’t like it, though. Shrug. Going to The Long Walk tonight. I’ve long wanted to see a solid adaptation of that novella and based on the buzz around it, that’s what I have in store for me. We’ll see… |

Thrilled for him as well. To be fair, Kone’s feint was so good, I might have been able to score that one. |

It's only 8.30 am over here. I've got all day to enjoy this one. Thanks to all for the updates throughout. I'm going to hop on my bike and pedal away all of the pent-up energy ... which is elation, not anger, for once. COYRs! |

My last 3 reads: The Witch Elm by Tana French Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane When The Game Was War by Rich Cohen First two were solid crime/thrillers. Last one looked at the 1987-88 NBA season, which is pretty much when I started really paying attention to pro basketball, which I stopped caring about by the early 2000s. Author has a soft spot for Isiah Thomas, which is too bad. Need to pick my next one. Saw the mention of The Human Stain earlier; might go that route. But look forward to more recommendations! |

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA The “City of Five Seasons” (Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter … and the time we take to enjoy life and the beauty of every day) Plus side: —My son went to great schools —I have a beautiful home that would be difficult to afford in many other locations —Plenty of bike trails (and decent breweries conveniently located along them) Negative: —I have to travel a fair distance to see my favorite bands; tours rarely come through our state —I’ll list a second: “City of Five Smells” is a more fitting nickname |

Saw Weapons last night … I enjoyed it. Actually laughed a fair amount and appreciated the tension. E17, what did you think of Barbarian? I preferred Weapons, but perhaps because Barbarian gave me an idea of what I had signed up for this time… |

I’m only following along here on the thread. Full disclosure. But I read at least one comment that praised Celar for his part in the buildup to the goal. Surely that’s something? Granted, I highly doubt Celar is the answer at the 9… |

Memento is my favorite film so I’ll have to give Die Alone a shot. On a separate note… Saw Eddington today. I was not impressed, and that’s the most positive assessment from our family. Wife hated it; 19yo son said it was “the worst.” He left at one point — I thought he’d left to use the restroom but it turned out he was going to walk to the nearby sandwich shop until he realized he’d left his billfold at home so he reluctantly came back! I absolutely love Hereditary and think highly of Midsommar, and I was excited about Eddington’s cast (Phoenix, Pascal, Stone, Butler), so I felt even more let down. But hey, some people seem to really love it. The definition of polarizing. |

My condolences. Beautiful sentiments you’ve expressed. My dad has been gone six years as of Monday — I treasure the great times we had and strive to make him proud going forward. Continue to cherish your memories. Take care. |
