 | News Comment | Southampton At Ipswich Town The Preview at 10:05:59
'Up front we have a plethora of strikers who are proven in the Championship and can score goals plus Damion Downs’ - and Robinson, but I don't feel confident about any of them scoring at the moment?! Lets hope they score a hat full to prove me wrong COYS |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Northampton Town The Verdict at 10:37:15
I only remember one Matty goal, but at least it was enough. To misquote something Napoleon probably never said "I'd rather have a lucky manager than a good manager”. I hope we havent used up too much of the 2025-26 pot of luck in the cup competition already. New system, changed team yes but considerable lack of confidence also - Downs should have at least 2 goals to his name by now. Lets hope we stay lucky! |

Very good write up - exactly as I saw it.. and why oh why did we not jump in and get Coady - youre right, he is exactly what Saints need and have done for a while. I’m not getting carried away - its fine margins as always and another day that could have been 0-3 |
 | News Comment | Southampton Technical Director Defends Jack Stephens Contract at 10:20:40
Ive no doubt that Jack is a 100% good guy, passionate about the club and a good influence in terms of attitude for the younger players. Those arent the only criteria for selecting our CB however, footballing ability should weigh heavily in the equation. I wish him all the very best and am very happy for him to be at the club…successive managers are seeing something I don't see, but I just get very nervous when I see him in the team. |

 | News Comment | A Game Of Two Halves At The Silverlake For Southampton at 09:20:05
Agreed. The first half was like watching last season's team all over again...depressing. The second half was much more encouraging - more youth, energy and positivity - approaching the sort of performance we're all hoping for from a Will Still team. |
 | News Comment | Jack Stephens Deserves Saints Fans Respect At This Time at 09:32:56
I saw Jack's first game for Saints reserves when he arrived at the club. Let's just say it wasn't an outstanding performance, in my opinion. In my eyes he has been a liability, but I'm not a football manager and plenty of them have seen things in Jack that I haven't. They may know more about football than me. Being positive, there's no doubting his whole-hearted approach and at times he appears calm on the ball. After games like the Bournemouth one, you can understand why a manager would rather have a fighter in the team than, lets say, a more technically gifted one... its a balance. Ideally you'd have a team of brilliantly gifted players who give everything in every game, but that's for very high spending owners only. Russ is trying to play Pep football with Championship players - he's trying to adapt, but its not easy is it?! I wish Jack well, I admire his spirit, and hope he proves people wrong |
 | News Comment | Graham Potter Lined Up For Southampton Job at 10:39:27
"could be set to make a Premier League return if Martin, 38, does not improve the Saints’ results" was the report I read... its not rocket science to speculate that a manager could be sacked if they get bad results - just throw a few out of work or promising managers into the ring - good for a few clicks |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Middlesbrough The Preview at 08:30:22
An excellent summary of where we are. I totally agree that our chances of automatic promotion, already on a knife edge, might well come down to the bizarre tactic of trying to play Jack Stephens at all costs. I'm glad someone else has to make these tough decisions, and someone, if I'm honest, knows a bit more about football management than most of us. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Sunderland The Verdict at 10:09:31
Spot on there. Jack Stephens oozes competitive spirit and I'm sure he's a top bloke, but I expect the data will show an uncomfortable correlation with him and a leaky defence. Good to get the win but another nail biter. |
 | News Comment | Southampton V Huddersfield Town The Preview at 10:41:45
I'm afraid I have to agree with the Jack Stephens comment. He's a great guy and full of enthusiasm, but also a huge liability and an error about to happen... and that uncertainty can spread. |
 | News Comment | Southampton At Preston North End The Verdict at 11:24:31
Saints were literally seconds away from only getting 1 point from these two games - the results are great but so much work still to be done. Lets take the positives, though. |
