And In Other Games....
at 22:43 12 Apr 2025

Blimey! Truro have gone top of NL South. That'll be some trek for us if they make it. Feel for the likes of Gateshead and Hartlepools if that happens.
And looks like Scunthorpe will finally make the step up out of NL North.

Fantastic performance today - no tippy-tappy whatsoever. Shows what you can do when you play footie properly. And shows last weeks first half performance up for the absolute shambles it was.
We now know our new keeper can make saves - made two crackers today. He can also spray the ball long and find a player but the jury's still out whether he means it or not :-) )
Was listening to Radio Noblot on the way in and they had Keef and Sam Allardyce on both endorsing Gary Neville's slagging off of "pointless possession" football, saying it was too boring to watch and turning people away from football. Maybe the tide is turning.
Now we just need Jim to carry on playing like we did today and, hopefully, results will see the benefit.
Come back you lapsed Daley's: season's not over just yet.

A calm and measured statement from our man. Think we owe it to him to see the season out if no one else.

A night's kip hasn't lessened the effect of the actual nightmare that unfolded yesterday. Unfortunately, you can write Dale scripts in big match scenarios - all with negative outcomes. All with opposition fans celebrating on our pitch instead of us.
I am seriously p@ssed off with this capitulation: which is a culmination of all the other capitulations we have had to witness this season - which seemto have occurred far more frequently this season.
The only way I can forgive this particular debacle is to win the play-offs. We are owed this big-style. If we wimp out of the play-offs too, then I don't know if I can take any more false-dawns and disappointments. I've waited 60 years for some good times. Appart from the first promotion season, are those few years with Keef really going to be the pinnacle of my years of support? I'm getting weary and there are better things to do with the limited time I have left on this planet, than get worked up every bloody weekend.
If we blow the play-offs, tell the Ogdens thank you very much, but lock the gates and throw away the keys. You are simply shoving shit uphill.

Come on the Dale!!! Let's have a no nerves, up and at 'em performance. Don't want penalties. UTD!!!!!

Anyway, as a complete aside: you mentioned the sprinklers. It has always puzzled me as to how these things work: with regard to how they can sit flush with the surface of the pitch after being used. Also, what is their topping? Is it a real sod or some fake turf? It just amazes me that these never appear to be a trip hazard.
Thanks to anyone who takes the trouble to respond :-)

Might we just have played in third gear with an eye on Saturday and not getting further injuries?

Spennymoor have been banging them in recently so yesterday's loss is a bit of an outlier.
As an aside, it just dawned on me that by Saturdaty evening we will have played all the Trophy semi-finalists in this one week. How strange is that?

Believe it or not I do agree with all that but I guess my point is the complete disrespect for the player and he will be picked because we have no one else to play up front at the moment. After the abuse he got I just think he will want as far away from us as he can get.

And I should like to add that, if the baying mob in the Sandy, who cheered Mitchell's substitution, think he will give a sh%t about ever scoring for Rochdale again.... well thanks for p%ssing off our leading goal scorer. We haven't got anyone else!
Yes, we were embarrassingly poor but you lot compounded the embarrassment a hundred fold by your vitriolic hatred (It really was) of one of our players.
It made me feel like calling it a day following the Dale as I do not want to be associated with "supporters" like that.

I think we will meet York again this season - at Wembley. And do them!

Good lad, Sam. Dashed my hopes of signing him though, him having extended his contract with Burnley until 2026 with them having an extension clause in place too.

Isn't Tobi's brother a presenter on Radio Manchester? Hope he can give us the odd discreet plug on his shows. :-)

Could we give vouchers away at the semi-final and offer a few bob off the price of a season ticket or something like that to, maybe, boost the attendance?
I was going to say first dibs on Wembley tickets but that's not really going to work.

I agree that we do need to start training to run through brick walls. Although some of the Alty players were bent double after Saturday's game too.
Stamina is going to be key as to how we finish this season.

But Rodney looked interested on Saturday. That's what I was hoping we would get every game. If he can produce like that game in, game out we would be daft to let him go. An uninterested Rodney though .......

Didn't we have four games in hand at this stage of the season, because of pitch issues and cup matches, and we beat the odds and sent the Oldham down? Jim and Hendo were in that squad so should know all about those kinds of pressures and how to deal with them effectively.

That was a watershed game for me. We did not have a clue. Tactics? What tactics?
Ok we gifted them an early goal - we still had 90mins to give them a game.
But we didnt have a plan. Ironic, that in a game where tippy happy possession may have been a good option, we chose to launch the ball. To whom? To nobody who could profit from them.. Surely, after a dozen of these ineffective launches we might have tried something else? Nope!
The last straw for me was taking Allarakia off. But worse still was bringing Hendo on early. I know that's what we all wanted to see but, to me, this showed that Jim, by pandering to the crowd, had run out of his own ideas.

Forget this season. It's gone. We can't get a new manager now because it would not be fair to the guy. We have to let the season run it's course with Jim at the helm and decide what to do near the end of the season. Pains me to say it.but today was utter shite and it has been coming for a while
