Bob Dylan Rough and Rowdy Days
at 12:13 20 Jun 2020

Last post encapsulated my views better than I could articulate them. I hated, and still hate Bob Dylan’s whiny monotone.

However, my favourite, Joe Strummer, was also a terrible singer, unintelligible at times. But when the package is as good as the two above, perhaps it doesn’t matter.

I believe it is that good.

But a couple of good mates, both with a cracking sense of humour otherwise, find it unfunny, not enough laughs, narcissistic and too much of a Jewish comedy.

No taste, those pricks.

Just about my top comedy series of all. Favourite episode: The one with Michael J Fox. What a trooper, Fox.

Only narrowly edged out by I'm Alan Partridge, first series.

There,said it.

I saw him in 1993, I think, at a small Xmas company do. Absolute filth. Brilliant. I wish I could remember his tales about Diana Dors' sex parties

Staff taking involuntary financial hit
at 11:42 9 Apr 2020

Family member operates residential care homes. 3 members of staff have received a government letter instructing them to stay away from work for 12 weeks on account of underlying health issues.
These employees are not eligible for government contributions via furloughing, so their only recourse is to go on Universal Credit. Weekly income will drop from a couple of hundred quid a week to 90-odd.
Clearly this is a substantial blow to their pocket but there appears to be no govt guidance for those in this situation. Many others must find themselves similarly disadvantaged.
Anyone on GB in the same boat? We are struggling to find a solution. Many thanks.
