As I recall, Vip came in on a free from a team that went into administration, which allowed players to be able to get out of their contracts. From ChatGPT: Free Transfer Vipotnik became available after his contract with Bordeaux was mutually terminated. This followed Bordeaux’s relegation to the third tier and decision to relinquish their professional status due to financial constraints—leading the club to cancel numerous player contracts.
Worst part is that he signed a 4-yr contract with Swans in the summer window of 2024.
No, can't feel sorry for the "guy". He signed the contract. Throwing a temper tantrum to force NUFC in selling him for less than what they could have gotten. Yes, would love to see Liverpool throw him under the bus, but that ain't gonna happen.
Is there a rule against approaching players and their agents without permission from the club that holds the contract? If not, then this type of behavior might become commonplace. If I were NUFC, then I would consider some type of civil damages against Liverpool for causing damage to their club's reputation. Here in the US, clubs have to seek permission from the player's club before any negotiations or anything about contracts.
Yes, Keith said the following in his latest report, "Jusef bid hasn’t happened, plus the Swans have better targets in discussion" (read the report) Thursday, 7th Aug 2025 07:00 by Keith Haynes :
"As we have reported this week Swansea City are also tidying up two potential signings which we believe are far better than this suggestion. One will almost certainly be announced, but not before the season starts."
Pretty much what he reports happens. Some of us need to learn to be more patient. I know it's hard sometimes with all the noise in the marketplace, but who are you going to trust, SI or FLW, or worse yet, WOL?
But one Irons youngster in particular has caught the eye of a key first team star. Jean-Clair Todibo has named West Ham’s top young star and is even tipping him for an England call-up. Because Todibo says Casey has seriously impressed him.
And despite not being the quickest defender around, Todibo believes Casey will go on to play at the highest level with his country. “For me, it’s Kaelan Casey (the young player who has impressed most),” Todibo told Anton Ferdinand in a new interview on West Ham’s YouTube channel.
“But (not just now) since last year when I arrived here and he started to train with us. “He has impressed me a lot, I love this guy. First of all he’s a good guy, a good human being and as a footballer I think he has all the qualities to go and make a big, big career, without any doubt.” And Todibo appeared to suggest Casey going out on loan will be the making of a future West Ham and England star.
We may have another Guehi-type star in the making! Excited!
Nope, not good enough! Cullen's more of a poacher, and Vip isn't there yet. Cullen did well to get 11? goals last season. With Vip's physique he could be turn into something special if he can learn to read the game to get better positioning. Great scorers always find the holes in the opposition's defense.
I very much agree with your point about being an improved squad, and I'm excited about all of our signees, even Santos, since we do need really good backups and utility type players. If Eom, Cabango, and Inoussa can play on Saturday, there's a good chance we will compete for a point at least, and hopefully 3. I'm not worried about Swans going down at the moment.
Love reading your reports! Really liked Marauder's report on Glory Nzingo! Very well written. I'm hoping Glory can join the 1st team in January, especially if they need someone who can score a goal. Keep up the good reporting!
Your quote: "Does business get done early? Of course it does. I can pretty much guarantee you that the sides who will be at the top in May will have their squad ready now."
What sides do you refer to and think will be at the top...your top 6?
Current faves, according to the bookies are: Ipswich at 9/2 to win the title; Southampton at 11/2 to win the title and 7/4 to get promoted; Sheff U, 17/2 for title, and 23/10 for promotion; Leicester, 11/1 for title, and 4/1 for promotion; and, Wrexham, 14/1 to 22/1 to win the title, and 6/1 for promotion.
You may want to reconsider your statement about top clubs already having done their business early: Akpom had his medical today @ Ipswich; Middlesbrough's Hackney currently negotiating terms with Ipswich after Mid agreed to sell for £20M; it appears that Broadhead is headed in the opposite direction to Wrexham for £7.5M; and, word on the street is that Ipswich is entering the race for Jens Cajuste of Napoli.
As for Southampton, Everton is applying a lot of pressure to sign their top star, Tyler Dibling, with a 3rd offer for £45M (estimated) rejected. Imo, Everton will eventually get their man, and for Southampton to start spending on new recruits. As you know, Leicester has been linked to Kone, but they've kept their powder dry for now. Sheff U's Selles says he's expecting a couple of new recruits in the next few days with Villa's Louie Barry reportedly nearing a move. And, of course, Wrexham and their interest in Kieffer Moore, and the possible Broadhead deal, if their offer hasn't already been accepted.
Also, don't forget the teams that will be at the bottom (Sheff W), or even League One, such as our Boo Boo Bird neighbors down the road. You're correct in that their squads have been ready since announcing their rosters earlier this summer!
247, that's a fair statement, that this window as a whole has been a success. But as I have stated before, we're probably going to see a couple of loans from teams at the top of the pyramid toward the end of the transfer window. Until the teams from the PL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A, etc. get their business done, then levels 2 & lower on the pyramid will have to wait for the crumbs to fall off the table. E.g., until Crystal Palace sell Eze AND get a bead on his replacement, then why would they allow a promising, up and coming player to go out on loan? Yes, it would be great to get our business done early, but really, has or will that ever going to happen?
Great article! He's the real deal. I live within 10 min of Carolina Core's training grounds. My son knows the owners of Carolina Core and says they really like Glory! I think it's safe to say it's really worked out well for both parties.
With Ryan Reynolds past/current success stories and businesses/investments, you cannot bet against him. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) had a story this morning on his Maximum Effort ad company.
Maximum Effort (ME) is an advertising and production company co-founded by Ryan Reynolds and George Dewey in 2018. Its name comes from Reynolds’s recurring quip in Deadpool: “Maximum Effort.” The firm operates as both a film/TV production studio and a fast-turnaround marketing agency, blending Hollywood storytelling with viral advertising savvy.
The WSJ story cited the recent widely-regarded successful YouTube video & other social media campaign where ME's use of Hollywood actress and ex-wife of Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, as a temporary spokesperson for the tech company Astronomer, whose CEO Andy Byron & Chief People Person Kristin Cabot were the focus of a recent Coldplay kiss cam scandal. Both resigned from the company last month due to the scandal (since both were married but not to each other). The company wanted to respond to the business world that company was still a vibrant company, so it hired ME to do a social media campaign.
Here's a link to one of many stories about the Paltrow video:
Ryan Reynolds is a very smart and successful business person who has a lot going for him. By the way, he's a dual US/Canadian citizen, born in Canada, and naturalized in 2018 for US citizenship.
In the US we call it the "Deep State". Same as in the US, most of the media is complicit, which is why you'll see very little coverage/investigative reporting on this story. This is a huge story; however, true journalism is practically dead.
Yeah, his 2018-2019 home kit shirt! Wages, sign-on fee, overall contract too much for Swans. Might see some more recruits later next month. Be prepared to see a couple of newbies in the roster until other teams start to panic and make possibly useful squad players available.
Hey Keith, how does player management (Sheehan & Montague) rate our youngsters, especially both Parkers, Congreve, & Lissah. I've seen earlier posts that some of us are expecting Wilson to go out on loan. Where's Govea? Does Josh Thomas have a future, because his last loan didn't really work out very well.
BTW, Glory Nzingo is playing well for Carolina Core in the 3rd tier of American soccer. Getting lots of minutes. Here's his current stats:
Year Club GP GS Tot Min G A SOT Pass% OFF Fouls Fouls Suff YC RC 2025 Carolina Core FC 16 12 1072 5 2 16 88% 6 13 8 1 0
I would agree that Cullen is the better choice to start the season up top, if no #9 is brought in specifically to start as a #9. His movement, fundamentals, and anticipation skills are better than Vip's. I want to see how well Cullen & Widell work together. There are a lot of options to deploy on both sides as well as up the middle. Exciting football ahead this season, let's hope!
Probably toward the end of the window we may see 1 or 2 loanees come into the squad. It appears that Sheehan and Montague have pretty much what they want at the moment.
I agree. Sheehan, Montague, and new owners are trying to build a playoff-contending squad, which includes a fast-paced RB, alongside an even faster-paced right-winger in Ronald, & who also doesn't require a budget-bustng salary. Right now, Key fits that description to a T, & has worked with Ronald for 2 seasons now. I'm expecting better partnering from them this coming season. £4M would be a lateral-move at best, imo.
