I think it’s time to cut the sentimentality out of our signings and focus on signings who fit the needs of the team within budget. A few examples :- Wilfred Bony way way past his best when he came back . Must have cost a fortune and not a shadow of his former self. Joe Allen great player but again unable to maintain fitness. Again cost a fortune. Hardly played.Ben Davies still imo a valuable premier league player but the rigours of championship.? Huge cost outweigh the risks. Ollie still could fit the bill age wise and we do need a striker with his attributes. But again he’ll cost a fortune- too risky. Has anyone thought that former players may not want to return? We have to move on.
