“sell it as a product **up there with the men's game**” Of course they're trying to sell it as a product, but there's a chasm between the media coverage given to the men's game and the women's. "No one is comparing the actual game to the men's game" Also with respect, that's precisely what you were doing in your post: "I would say that at a push the best teams could probably give a Hampshire League side a game." |

I don’t see anybody trying to “sell it as a product up there with the men's game”, Nick. The BBC may be pushing it in its own right but that’s a good thing to help the sport grow. If you don’t like it, ignore it (like I do with snooker). It’s not difficult. Who exactly is comparing the women's game to the men’s game, apart from you & some other posters on here? It's a totally pointless comparison. (For that reason I won't get into the Hampshire League discussion.) |

Why do people still insist on comparing women’s football with men’s? I’ve never heard anybody say that the standard of play is comparable. The same could be said of nearly every professional sport that men and women both play. If people watched it with an open mind they might find they enjoyed it more. |

I know a lot of people on here don’t like & will never like women’s football, but any fan of football should enjoy watching Spain. Favourites to win it for a reason. |

Well Ruben Selles seems to be doing a good job since he left - 43.59% win percentage at Reading & 36.36% & improving at Hull, who were excellent at Bramall Lane last night. Both really tough jobs. He was dealt a rubbish hand at St Mary's – a team in freefall & no decent backroom staff. Wouldn't be surprised to see him end up back in the Premier League. |

Just standing in an offside position when the ball is played isn't an offence so isn't flagged. You often see players not going for a ball because they know they would be pulled up for offside if they did. “A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched* by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play” (LOTG 11.2) |

A hotel's rating isn't defined by bricks and mortar. A 5 star hotel must offer things like gourmet dining, luxury spas, a butler service, premium toiletries, fresh flowers, etc, etc. Do you really think any of these are available to asylum seekers anywhere? Otherwise maybe you could edit your earlier post to replace “5 star” with “repurposed 3 star” and “Savoi” (sic) with “Best Western”. Otherwise you're just repeating the sort of incendiary lies that caused the August riots. |

When it was open as a hotel it was a 3 star. As far as I can see it's no longer operating as a hotel but it's been repurposed to house asylum seekers. So where's the 5 star luxury you mentioned? |

Haven't got time to pick over all of this but I wish people would stop spouting rubbish about immigrants being put up in 5 star hotels. It doesn't happen and has never happened. If you really think it's true give a single example. |

Why do people keep calling them 'Sports Republic'? It's 'Sport Republic'. Sports Republic is a South African company flogging sports goods. Although they might make a better fist of running the club... |

Isn't that 2000 views rather than 2000 people? Got to admit I've looked at it several times to check progress... |

You've got to question Selles' choice of owners. From Sport Republic at Saints to Dai Yongge at Reading & now Acun Ilicali at Hull. Perhaps he just likes a challenge. |

They did a series of football teams too, including Saints. When we played Chelsea in a friendly at The Dell Bobby Tambling took my Chelsea one on the team bus & got it signed by the whole squad. Top bloke. I've still got it somewhere. |

On topic, Steve Moran at Anfield was always one of my favourites. The first time I saw us win there:

Never met Elijah (although I think I saw him interviewed on TV once), but I'm really upset by that news. Always came across as a thoughtful guy. Life's fragile. Sincere condolences to his family & friends. |

Have you already got a Supporter number? You must have had one since before 11/05/2024 to get priority so I guess that rules out Leeds supporters. |
