It is just this forum that has died. There are at least 4 others that continue to have multiple daily posts. The Ramstrust baggage and the elitist structure with favoured posters and commentators have done for this one.

Explanation needed please.

What on earth has any of this to do with Derby County as opposed to massaging the egos of those named?

20 up for Chris - best free transfer?
at 02:08 11 Apr 2014

I think Kris Commons was a pretty decent free signing. He has gone on to better his 1 in 4 strike rate for us ( very decent for a midfielder) in Scotland but he was crucial in keeping us up in 2010-11. Without his 13 goals and more before his departure in January we would have been down. He had the disadvantage of being surrounded by some very poor players

McClaren's recent past.
at 02:33 4 Oct 2013

I agree a fresh start was needed.. The poor results at home so far along with many less than sparkling performances last season led me to a state of indifference. I went on Tuesday with mixed feelings but saw a game that in the 2nd half at least was worth every penny. It was the best entertainment in a long while. We have some good players but I feel Nigel has not been able to get the best from them. He has also signed a few duffers! McClaren and his fellow coaches have far more experience and achievements in their roles than their predecessors and we can be optimistic that they will get more out of the squad we have.

"A Cracking Squad" - Clough...Are the Rams Strong Enough to Challenge?
at 02:59 22 Jul 2013

We know all about Forsyth and Martin, Grant may be a little bit better than what we had and Eustace, as Clough has said, will only be a bit part player. That leaves Russell, who I think could be an improvement on what we have already. We have not signed many strikers with convincing scoring stats but Russell did well last season.
I feel the same as other posters. The new players have something to prove. If we can get near top 6 then it will take someone to step up on what they have shown so far. I hope Jacobs is given more opportunities, he has seemed to me to have more potential than say Coutts

Can we have some reasoned debate please?
at 02:03 10 Mar 2013

The over to you Mr Rush point is overstated.

The manager has to take repsonsibility. Who chose to sign Keogh and Sammon - what bargains they seem to be now! Or twelve months earlier who signed Tyson? Or who signed Shackell only to get rid and replace him with the inferior Keogh after just 12 months?

It is only the emergence of young players that has saved us from being in a relegation scrap, though it may yet come rather close.

Can we have some reasoned debate please?
at 03:04 3 Mar 2013

I cannot see how the view that we are improving can be sustained. The team being "young" is not an improvement in itself. The evidence is to the contrary. We are in a run of very poor results since January. The chances of matching last season's points total are slim to say the least. The debt of the club has risen by 50% in 2 years. The young stars may not be with us next season. Unfortunately we may still have a manger who regards Connor Sammon as a footballer, and whose record in recruiting strikers has been lamentable Tyson? Robinson?
If you have watched "some of the best football for some years" then you have clearly viewed matches from Pride Park alone.
Football message boards reflect what is happening on the pitch and comments on Ramzone are no different. Fans who have parted with substantial sums to watch the games in the Championship will not be satisfied with the Youth team having a good cup run.
As a start to a reasoned debate we need a bit more evidence for your claim of steady improvement.

2013-14 S/T Renewals - Price hikes for disabled; higher age discount thresholds?
at 01:53 5 Feb 2013

I am over 60 so currently have a "Senior" ticket. They are not just changing the age at which one qualifies, my ticket is going up in cost by over 25%. Not even my energy bill has risen by such an annual amount!

If I do not renew by the deadline then because I am not yet 65 I will be paying the full price, as I will then be affected by the change in the eligible age for Senior discounts.

If I am being honest, I could afford the increase but I realise many cannot and this makes me angry. I look forward to the new spinmaster trying to explain why the disabled and aged(longtime?) supporters are being treated in this way. The chances of me renewing my ticket have plunged!

Review of season !
at 04:11 27 Apr 2012

Your memory is short regarding the failed players that Clough has brought in, he has had 3 years and there have been many.

Have you been to the last two home games?

The final league position represents progress for sure, but as you say it is largely down to the first few games where we got more points than our performances warranted.

Shackell?
at 03:46 5 Apr 2012

I am often astonished by posts on message boards but rarely as much as this naive example.
The accounts and recent comments from the club show that the business model is not working. Last summer some of the owners injected £6m as loan capital, which kept the show on the road. The debt increases to £25m.
Selling assets, of which we have few, is one way of removing the need for more "loan capital" being needed.
As for "proving their financial model of sustainability" anyone believing that has been completely taken in by the Snake Oil Man

More realistically don't get too excited because Davies has usually followed a good performance with one of anonymity, and so it proved today

"Who'd have thought at the start of the season that we'd be gagging to get top scorer Theo Robinson back in the side? "

Who wants this?

His contribution on Thursday illustrates why he is not a Championship footballer. No control of the ball and very poor decision-making, whose only virtue is energy/pace.

That he might be missed is an example of how far our sights and expectations have declined under our non-league manager

Another Shocking Performance!
at 02:06 24 Feb 2012

It must now be doubtful we will improve on last season's final position. The current run of 6 league games without a win equals our worst for the season.

It is far removed from the heady days of Clough's first couple of months when we beat Man Utd in the Carling Cup. Back then we had a player who could turn a game with a moment of individual skill. Who has Clough brought in who could do that? He prefers non-scoring strikers like Tyson - despite the stats plain for all to see before he signs them.

I appreciate the contribution Hendrick, O'Brien and Ball have made this season but there is not a single other player left who I care about or would be disappointed if I did not to see them again in a Rams shirt.

Forty years since my first season ticket I am reduced to apathy by the current owners and management.
