Visited Chicago in 2019, loved it, great city. Stayed at Knockerbocker hotel, only 4 nights though. I would thoroughly recommend the Art Institute of Chicago, some very well known paintings by many Very well known artists. They do a Top 10 must sees if you only have an hour, but we spent longer. Public transport/Metro easy. Sports wise Soldier Field for NFL or Wrigley Field for a proper old school baseball stadium uptown. The River Walk is lovely. I liked The Bean too, Very shiney. We enjoyed drinks and the view at the Water Tower, great views over the Lake Michigan. For the Blues Brothers vibe, wander around The Link (I think it’s called) and go to Buddy Guy’s Legends bar for live music. Enjoy. |

3 point lead after day 1. I think Luke and would have taken that before the start. TBF, I don’t mind Thomas, he’s solid and only bigging up the crowd like we do at home. Cantlay is a thorn in our side though and we’ve yet to see the best of Sheffler & Spaun. I actually quite like Keegan, he’s solid probably should be playing if down to form. But hopefully, same again Tomorrow. [Post edited 28 Sep 10:42]

I was made redundant from FT employment at 54, took the Summer off then worked Part Time for 6 years whilst my Private pension pot continued to grow. I did 25 hours for a few years, then dropped to 20/week before giving up August ‘24. For those 6 years I delivered online groceries for a supermarket. Easy work (except Xmas), on your own most of the time and most customers were great. Felt quite community spirited as well. Pay is average, around £13.50/hour (outside London) and between the 6 or 7 companies, they are Always looking out for drivers. Worked well for me. |

Gordon Brown has much to answer for. And try telling all those Post Office people “If you’ve done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear !” |

Always thought we were stronger with him in the team and harder to beat. But his cards and injuries suggest we have better options now although probably on similar wages…..? |
 | Forum Reply | RND joins on loan at 19:50 25 Aug 2025
How ? He’s on loan, which suggests Sheff Utd are paying half his wages. |
 | Forum Reply | Colback at 23:02 24 Aug 2025
Guessing that’s a No then ? Which suggests the poster on the other thread is wrong. I ‘thought’ we’d made a reduced wage, short term offer, which he was stalling on whilst hoping for other options. I would have been happy with another year, despite his injury and card history as I think we’re stronger with him in the side, but if he’s not committed, then….. Bye. |

Has he left or still chewing over his options ? Saw on another thread that he’s gone, but not seen any official statement….. |

They didn’t want him last season, so gave us him on loan. Let Brum pay £5m for him, he’s not worth that. If not, take him back on loan, eventually he’ll be free. |
 | Forum Reply | Dave Thomas at 17:06 13 Aug 2025
Absolutely brilliant that he’s back and doing well. I’ll always remember that desperate away game at Coventry (Jess 1-0), which pretty much relegated us, despite an amazing away turnout by the R’s and leaving the ground despondent only to hear Dave (selling aKutR’s) and calling out, “Has anyone got a cunning plan ?” (It was around Black Adders peak…..) |

But their in the next round of the cup, more money and interest and the chance of a big home game. If Dembele got injured, Smyth would have been fit by them. Are we not bothered about 2 of the 3 competitions we enter ? If not, why enter them, give Everybody a week off after 1 game of the season….. |

3 off the top of my head - Three Billboards (outside Missouri…..) Jojo Rabbit CODA (Child Of Deaf Adults) But there’s been a real downturn since Covid IMO, too many remakes, prequels, etc. |
 | Forum Reply | Walsh v Nardi at 18:31 11 Aug 2025
Agreed, all good points. Let’s face it, Both are average Championship GK’s, possibly Good at times, but not consistently, otherwise they’d be elsewhere or we’d have clubs offering worthwhile money for them. Tomorrow at Plymouth will be interesting, it always is with early round cup games AND a new manager. Don’t agree Walsh should have been onloan last season, he deserved to be #2. What if Nardi had picked up an injury and Walsh was tied to a season long loan ? Salomon/Cooper (Not ready) or bring in another loan (can’t afford one !). So let’s trust in those who see them train each day and support whoever gets picked. |

20 episode of Porridge plus 1 Xmas special. Then there was 6 episodes of Going Straight where Barker played the same character at home, out of prison. Fawlty Towers was 12 though, as was The Young Ones, Phoenix Nights, both classics IMO. Also, the lesser known but underrated Early Doors. Craig Cash, Mark Benton, James McAvoy, Phil Mealey & Maxine Peake. Any others that only had 12 episodes ? [Post edited 10 Aug 21:47]

Also, love the time in the 70’s he was on Superstars (70’s TV) which was filmed over 2 days, 5 events each day, he went out with James Hunt on the fizz/pull the night inbetween. Allegedly got back to Hotel around 4am and finished last over the 10 events. Hunt, stayed out, didn’t go back to hotel, went straight to the venue for last 5 events and finished up as the overall Winner !!! Fair play. |
