Just back - Watford reflections
at 20:02 16 Aug 2025

Watford had three or four African players who were absolute beasts, proper units.

Dembele looked like he was a kid playing with his uncles

Not too dispirited after that second half. Onwards

Well you can certainly tell we've got a youth team midfielder and a centre back as full-backs, we've been woeful defending the flanks. And our ball retention when we actually get anywhere near their box has been pathetic. V frustrating to watch

You can see what we're trying to do but this XI just isn't up to it.

HOLD ON: get in Morgan!

Songs for Kone

Someone make a TikTok of it with some fit girls tenuously featuring in the background and it might stand a chance.

(Nobody on here knows how to make a TikTok including me)

(The fit girls address book might be a struggle too)

Mad watching that - De Wijs.

A player I had entirely forgotten about and don't think I've ever heard mentioned since he left. Had to look him up to remember how to spell his name. I can't even really remember what he looked like other than "hard/tattoos"

The trouble with that is you have to win games doing it.

I think that's closer to what we were doing last season - buying players who fit a data model who don't actually work in real life.

Brighton's astonishing rise up the ranks would suggest they're better at it than we are.

This is how I’m looking at it too.

Midfield were anonymous but the rest look well up to it

A whole pre season with almost no strikers is nuts and getting a bit old now.

Aside from the absent Frey, Kolli, Celar and Lloyd we also didn’t have JCS, Smyth, Vale and most of Varane today.

We’ve actually got a chunky squad of potential starters now but half of them aren’t starting games

I only saw chunks of the game but feels like we’ve got good spirit and effort - if we can sort the perennial sicknotes, trim the fairly large squad through loans and GET A FKIN STRIKER we might have a decent season

Celar and Kelman going and 2/3 new strikers - anyone - will do for me

As fans we’ve got Stockholm Syndrome with centre forwards, there are so many better out there

We haven’t had a really good one since Austin mk1

If we can bin off the Celar experiment in particular that would be massive progress, and a sign that our new boss at least is being listened to

Put in a fantastic first time ball forward to set up the equaliser

The bloke’s got talent if we can get it out of him

Every single professional field is full of expert bullshitters who are convincing in a meeting, boast a series of 18 month senior stints at various big jobs, interview well, then fk off after 18 months into another cosy number having achieved absolutely nothing because they’re just full of hot air. Leaving behind chaos every time

Cnts, they’re a pox on our society.

Are We Going Toulouse? Match Thread
at 11:04 16 Jul 2025

Had the absolute time of my life during France 98 in Toulouse when England were there to play Colombia.

100-a-side football in the main town square with the church doors as goals and some three-day madness at the packed campsites, particularly when the Dutch turned up. Was superb.

Never been back to Toulouse since and would have loved to make this game, but couldn't make it work...

Madsen interview
at 23:43 15 Jul 2025

I was really pleased last year when I started this thread about Madsen not being totally useless and it took off - showed we’ve got some of the most patient and fair fans going.

https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/320697/5150542/th

No doubt he was absolutely woeful through a lot of last year and struggled to get involved but he also started and finished well and he’s clearly got talent and is a smart guy

Would love him to do well here

Agreed - just saying that Chair has put himself into a unique place (unlike Varane, Nardi etc that we could sell) that means he could conceivably be one of our all-time appearance holders

Would be great to see in a time when a one club player is incredibly rare, and it helps that he’s really good too

After all this time I'd be keen for Chair to do his whole career here now and set some records.

You don't see it anymore and he's been our best player for years, we've just got used to him

I think the time we could have sold him for a decent sum has gone after CoachRockGate

Stéphan Era vs Stevenage

Only caught the second half and yes yes friendlies are essentially a waste of time analysing but for the last few years since Warbs left every friendly I’ve watched seemed to see us getting drubbed by crap teams, so it was a pleasant surprise

It’s also notable that we have a decent squad now for the first time in eons - both teams in each half could conceivably start a Championship game (not you Taylor) so our new Monsieur is going to have some real selection headaches, and that was without the crocked four who have a few starters in there as well

Gaffer's pre-friendly interview
at 23:12 4 Jul 2025

First time I’ve heard him speaking and I like him.

Feels like another smart European manager that gets it, but more austere French instead of our passionate Catalan

If as rumours were true he couldn’t really speak English a year ago he’s pretty articulate!
