Prague
at 13:39 23 Oct 2025

The last time I went there was in 2001 organised by a company called “Prague Piss Up” for a mate’s stag do.

My recommendation is don’t do anything we did, or go to any of the places we went (which i can’t remember the names of anyway).

It’s a fantastic town, full of history. A great book to read before you go would be Alchemy by SJ Parris, murder mystery set in 17th century Prague

Walked away from that feeling ok - we’re looking a much better side these days and playing some nice football, we lost on a couple of bad goals to concede. Basically exactly what we did to Bristol City

RND is looking like a great signing and Madsen is now consistent in his resurgent form, two bonuses none of us would have expected

Frey’s looking shot and surely it’s time for Kolli to step ahead of him in selection up front

Chair/Poku/JCS to come as well

Another shout out to Paul Smyth thought he was excellent

Possession, nine-tenths of the problem? – Analysis
at 18:27 13 Oct 2025

If this is the death of Pep ball across the board, then I can't wait.

We've been singularly unfortunate as football fans to live through the decade of slavish adoption of this style. As we sang to early adopters Swansea all those years ago, "it's just like watching paint dry".

The one element that really gets my goat is the constant sight of wingers dribbling clear on the wing, stopping, and passing back to their equivalent of Sam Field for the whole side-to-side to get going again and the oppo to reorganise.

I'm sure there's some nerds that have proved this is a good tactic, but I can't for the life of me see how a good first time cross isn't going to be a better option. As a defender for many years crosses were a nightmare.

Wood Lane, Scrubs Lane and North Pole Road closures from today
at 16:20 13 Oct 2025

I mean to be fair I live round the corner from Scrubs Lane and it’s had temporary lights on it somewhere for about the last four years now. It’s a semi permanent car park

Add the permanent temporary lights at Grove/Harrow Road and it’s just marvellous

Looking forward to them building the planned massive skyscrapers by the gas tower at the canal to add to the fun

Kone - too slow to go?
at 23:14 7 Oct 2025

The thing that's really struck me about him is while he's a goalscorer that will shoot on sight, when it's not on he'll play the nearest player in and he's always looking for the cross or one-two or through ball.

Unselfish at the right times, that's the mark of a good forward

The other team's threads for games we win are always enjoyable.

It's very rare to see acknowledgement for us and you get a good insight into the other team's obsessions of why they lost (players, management, owners, whatever).

Remember back into the Warnock season reading pages and pages of how sh*t and lucky we were all season long

Agreed - look at him on the final whistle in the background here if this works

That’s a different bloke to last season who’s enjoying his own performances and getting some confidence

There's a lot of rose-tinted glasses going on about football in the old days - the pass back rule to the keeper is a great example.

The "legendary" Liverpool team of the 80s would get a goal (or wait for the ref to give them a penalty if it was taking too long) and then spend the rest of the game passing it a triangle between Hansen/Hysen/Lawrenson/Gillespie etc and Grobelaar. Was boring as hell, so many terrible games to watch.

Changing that rule changed football completely
