Paul Warne has been 'linked' by some sites - and is 3rd favourite for the job on skybet. I would be surprised if he leaves Rotherham before the end of the season, but if the job is still going, IMO would be a reasonable choice for us. |
| News Comment | Talk to me about your fairytale ending - Report at 20:35:09
Yes, what an amazing game - but with the wrong ending!! Credit to Brum for trying to add to their tally even at 3-4, rather than fart around by the corner flag like Preston did when 4-1 up!! Wasn't the ref a total prat though! |
| News Comment | Lumley rescues Reading point for tired Rangers - Report at 20:21:14
Big 'thumbs up' to the Reading fans on the Metropolitan Line train on the way to the ground. They obviously had a 'gallows' sense of humour. Amongst other highlights was their song 'The Championship table is upside down - we're going up with the Ipswich!' |
| News Comment | Sinton on QPR goals, memories, and the trauma of his first game back - Interview at 21:50:43
Great interview. I saw Sinton playing for Brentford against Man City in the FA Cup. Brentford were a division lower than City, but Sinton took them to the cleaners and Bees won 3-1. After seeing him in that game, I was delighted he signed for us, and wasn't disappointed. I think he is doing a wonderful job as ambassador too. |
| News Comment | A little trip down Wembley Way — History at 08:28:14
Any excuse to re-live the playoff :>) But also watch the 4-2 win at Derby in 09/10 - during Magilton's all too brief golden run. The second goal especially, by Mahon, IMO is one of our best goals ever. Fantastic move. |
| News Comment | The season is long and hard... — Knee jerks at 21:03:13
Agree with a lot of this. Additional points - Cardiff had 62% of the possession, a lot for an away side. I would love to see there pass completion stats too - far better ours I'm sure. Was disappointed we seemed to be hoofing it up to the strikers again. I thought we were supposed to be playing a passing game this season? Definitely agree that Charlie needs to play with a target man up front - would love to see him and Polter together. Also on Charlie - he always seems to take a few games of a season to get into his stride. Remember last season, when many were doubting he would score goals in the prem? We definitely a work in progress, and before the game I would have taken a 2-2 draw with a fairly good Cardiff side. We have to learn how to close out games though... |

Last players we developed and improved? Kyle Walker and Adros Townsend... err hold on - they weren't ours anyway! |
| News Comment | The most inevitable 0-0 draw in the history of the sport — report at 15:28:19
Very good point about Hoilet. Although he certainly has ability, he lacks a football brain. I think losing McLaren has affected him the most. In the pre-season games McLaren was yelling a Hoilett all the time and encouraging him to get into dangerous positions. I wish Harry would do some yelling. All he seems to do in games is sit on his arse with his arms folded, looking like he'd rather be somewhere else. I would love to know who is actually doing the coaching on the training ground. |
| News Comment | Redknapp gambles on veteran Dunne at 21:02:37
Hmm - an interesting one this. Could be 'the right sort' - but also seems to have Discipline problems - he was fined by Villa only 2 years ago for a drunken brawl. I don't know how that fits in with the new 'zero tolerance' regime that got Adel sent home.... |
| News Comment | The 1968 Villa Park promotion game - history at 20:42:27
Absolutely agree about Gregory and the good job he did keeping us up. We were down to the bare bones as a team, and also financially. I believe Gregory sometimes had to pay for the teams away accommodation out of his own pocket! I think he knew he was going to be fired before the West Brom game - hence the laughing etc. |
| News Comment | 1983 and the one who got away — history at 16:10:19
Couldn't agree more about Helguson. At times last year he was terrific, especially against Man City at home, when he won every ball in the air. Letting him go was stupid in the extreme. |
| News Comment | QPR hope to improve recent Carrow Road record — history at 08:58:08
Yes, the Norwich game in 1976 was heartbreaking - but in hindsight the game that lost us the Championship was a 0-0 draw at Sheffield Utd in the middle of our winning run. Sheffield finished bottom that season and were awful - we should have thrashed them but somehow couldn't score. A win in that game would have taken a lot of the pressure off and I'm convinced we would have gone on to win the league. |
| News Comment | The Mac is back, but where does it leave Taarabt? at 18:13:29
Good to have you 'well' again. Re Taarabt. I can't see him fitting back into the starting X1 at the moment. We look so much better with 2 up front and Barton and Faurlin in the middle of midfield. I think we'd have to change back to 4-2-3-1 with Adel. It could be a while before he gets back in. |
| News Comment | Gorkss, Barton and the great ticket price crash at 08:22:08
Great article as usual Clive! Just one point - isn't it noticeable that we announce the ticket price reduction on the day it looks like we're signing Joey Barton, who reportedly is going to get £60k a week. In other words we are decreasing income and increasing expenditure at the same time. |
| News Comment | Thursday Diary — Fernandes and Bhatia lift the gloom at 20:06:33
Not quite over yet - somehow Paladini is still at the club. As Amit says "Bhatia confirmed the new-look board are reviewing the position of Gianni Paladini, who has been stripped of the role of club chairman – a title he held for six years and retained despite a number of changes to the company board. “Flavio and Bernie are out and Gianni’s situation has to be reviewed,†he said. “He brings some value to the club, but there are other things that we have to make sure are treated correctly and done in the proper way. “Over a period of time, we’ll make decisions. For now Gianni remains at the club, but what the future holds for him we’ll just have to wait and see.†|
