Is the release clause ultimately preventing Eze's Sale ??
at 20:59 1 Jul 2025

If palace don’t want to sell him for £67m, he’s worth more than £67m

And just change because people have to do something. In no way does it improve the coverage but ‘I made the change so I’ve done something.’

It’s bad enough when they cut away from the action for a close up of their favourite manager/player - just let me watch the game ffs!
Amazes me how they can be in charge of the cameras but have no feel for the game.

I hope they are being well paid for that sponsorship. It’s ruined the kit.

Or the club should have been smarter and waited for an approach. Wasn’t that the point of the buy-out clause?

Varane being sold?

To me, ‘Rangers expect to reject the offer.’ would mean it’s come from the club.
‘Rangers are expected to reject the offer.’ means that someone, anyone, expects Rangers to reject the offer. Info may have come from the club, may have come from the agent, may have come from the other club and someone, maybe the journalist, wanting to sound like he has spoken to the club, says Rangers are expected to reject the offer. Whether he expects it or the tea boy expects it doesn’t matter - someone expects it so it is added to the article.

Who says he’d have to come to west London? A role at QPR, while doing another, higher profile job, working remotely in the middle-east…Equally strange things have happened

Sorry, upvoted in error. I don’t think he was good enough. The set pieces were poor and I can’t understand why he took as many as he did but that’s on the manager.

(Sorry down voted you, accidentally)

What I meant was that if the revenue from Eze’s sale came in 2025 but we didn’t spend it until 2026, then in 2028 the three year rolling FFP period (covering 2028, 2027 and 2026) would include the expenditure but not the revenue. Potentially, leaving us with a hole to fill.
So, would the club feel pressure to spend it all in 2025? (A worrying scenario, given the current managerial situation)

Happy to be educated and definitely not an expert in football finances.

I may not be right but it seems to me that if the revenue moves out of the rolling three year period while the years of spending it remains in the three period, because it was spent in the years after it was received, we’d be stuffed, unless we’d gained promotion.

Sure, but I was talking about spending and (i think) the bulk of the spending was on Madsen and Celar.
Anyway, maybe I worded my post badly because my main point was supposed to be a question of whether the FFP rules force us to spend the money as soon as we receive it.
If they do, (and Eze does move), I guess we’ll have a full on tilt at promotion.
We may differ on whether recent dealings make us confident about the likely outcome of this.

If Eze is sold and we receive, say, £15m, are we obliged to spend it within the same year in which it is received? Otherwise the sale will roll out of the three year period before anything spent in the following years. Kind of forces us into a shopping spree when the purse is being held by the people that brought us Madsen and Celar.
