"Shoot" "Beano" "Roy of the Rovers"
at 16:14 13 Jun 2025

Why did Billy’s nan seem to throw out his boots every other week? Dotty old bird.
The boy from Argentina was another very topical one in 1978/9.
Loved Shoot’s league ladders but always felt a bit sniffy over them having “QP Rangers”

Delighted for Eze, chuffed for Palace, bemused with the BBC for trying Rooney as an “eloquent expert” again.

"Gardening Leave" - what exactly does this mean ??
at 09:04 5 May 2025

I can only surmise that the club were/are expecting him to be imminently offered a role elsewhere. In which case the new club would have to pay us compensation. If that’s not the case, we seem to have opened ourselves up to having to pay him off as we won’t be able to appoint someone else into the role whilst he’s still under contract.
Very QPR.

Bristol City Reflection

I really didn’t think Bristol C were much cop - such small margins in this division between those pushing for promotion and those struggling (but a striker certainly can be the difference). Imagine them in the premiership next year?!

How many points needed for 5th/6th?

If we can get to the end of March and still be 3 or 4 points off the playoffs it will certainly look do-able! If if if.

Just watched Jimmy's goal for the 50th time...is that Morgan just ahead of him who seems to occupy/take out the centre back? Smart kid....

Michael Caine’s real name was Maurice Micklewight.
Quite a lot of people know that.

That’s crazy young. Great player and had a new romantic vibe - complete contrast to Peter Withe who he played alongside! RIP

The Scotland game was on in a bar we were in, and my daughter asked if Dykes was playing. She was asking what colour his hair is now to try and identify him. Then he missed an open goal and I said “there he is”.

When all the Liverpool supporters at school would bang on about Fairclough, I argued that Peter Eastoe was an even better ‘super sub’. No idea now if that was based on him scoring 1 or 2 off the bench or if he was more prolific than that 😃

England vs some other team. Euros Semi Final match thread.

We get to the byline (occasionally) and Kane is on the edge of the box! Get further forward! If prime Sir Les was in this team instead of Kane we’d be flying…

Plug in hybrids
at 13:48 15 Apr 2024

Thanks for the comments, really interesting. I liked the idea of a hybrid to avoid range anxiety (and also like BlackAndGoldRanger, not sure if I would be diligent in charging it), but reassuring to hear MelakaRanger's views. Thinking of a Jaguar E-Pace, so only available as plug-in (or petrol/diesel).
