Is basic, but the landlord decent bloke is trying to make a go of it after being ripped off for years by breweries, we tend to go in there as a last drink before the game and first drink after the game |

the “we are Southampton the pride of the south” song seems to have changed from we only drink whiskey we only drink brown to we only drink whiskey , we only drink rum Rum doesn’t even rhyme with town ffs Is this due to brown ale not being commonly drunk these days ? |

The engineers are giving out tickets for entry, you need to get them in advance. 5 rivers are open from 10-00 but you need to show home area tickets to get in |

We should have got something against 10 man Newcastle and many games since, with a decent manager we would have a fighting chance |

Not sure if anyone needs blaming, it’s a freak year, the championship this season is nuts, most seasons 85 points is enough for auto promotion, (we got auto promotion with 86 pts in 2012) this year you may need 100 points! Next season the championship will be a lot weaker without 3 of Leicester Ipswich Leeds or us in it |

The away fans will still be loud no matter where they are, I’m in the kingsland, our fans in the Northam which are closer to me are not that loud I honestly don’t believe there will be a rush to go in the Northam end by Saints fans, the sun in the current away area is blinding! be interesting to ask the people in itchen north what their plans would be if the away fans were at the other end of the ground |

What they are trying to achieve won’t happen as a lot of our vocal support will just move to be near the away fans |

I’d have thought we’d of had more tickets in the championship, I guess we will have to be one of those annoying clubs that have away fans in home areas 🤷♂️ |

From a crowd control point of view, the Northam is the perfect place to put away fans, closest place to the coaches, the car park behind is perfect if you need to keep fans contained when leaving the ground, for games that have a larger away presence it makes sense to give them a larger part of the Northam, itchen north wouldn’t work as there is not a large enough area to contain away fans outside the ground if needed. As Nick says if the fans really want a whole home end it has to be the chapel end. In reality though the vocal support want to be next to the away fans, so nothing will change, as someone previously suggested safe standing in the chapel end may work |

From day 1 it was known that the away fans would have half the Northam end and more of that end for increased allocation, it made sense for crowd control and where the coaches would park, For some reason the vocal section of saints fans also chose the Northam end, knowing they would be moved for cup games, then have moaned about it ever since 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ |

People are out of the habit of going, what they have seen over the second half of last seAson has been dreadful, it is live on TV, which makes it more appealing to watch it at the pub 🤷â€â™‚ï¸ |
 | Forum Thread | 2009 what if ? at 18:45 16 Aug 2021
We got so close to folding in 2009, then fortunately Marcus came in to save the day, at the time I blindly was in denial and assumed everything would be ok but looking back, things were very bleak In most of my 50 odd years of supporting Saints, we have been in the top flight, non league football would not have done it for me so where I was going to get my football fix from? Portsmouth or Bournemouth would not have been an option, I think it would have been Crystal Palace but I have no logical reason why |
