Marti to Leicester…maybe
at 11:48 16 Jul 2025

You can't compare being a football manager or head coach with any other job. You sign a contract for a fixed term and I'm sure that contract will contain terms and clauses that you won't find in any other job contract.

Marty clearly broke the terms of his contract in some way but we'll probably never know how.

Mind you, player and manager contracts seem pretty much meaningless in many ways these days...

The QPR summer transfer rumours thread
at 07:53 12 Jul 2025

Well I'm probably naive or something but I always thought that they were competing against each other and would be picked on their form and merits. No need to flat out tell one of them that they are basically second choice. Just pick the other one every week if that's what you want to do. I guess it could be an attempt to force him to leave the club - have we got too many goalkeepers now? In any event there has to be a better way of doing that.

Presumably, we'll still be paying Nardi the same but we've now destroyed his incentive.

*SIGH*

Why can't we ever do something smoothly and without controversy?

How optimistic are you now?

Still a bit flat to be honest but then I'm a pretty miserable git in general.

Not wanting to p1ss on anyone's fireworks but the one thing that always sticks in my mind is that in all aspects of the club's business there are people involved and where people are involved anything can happen. And at QPR it usually does, and not in a positive way.

Marti now says it was both concussion and his ankle. Filed is not available tomorrow, nor is Paal.

There's a BBC Radio London interview with Marti on the BBC Sport website.

Marty said field came off because he felt a bit dizzy. In his ankle, probably.

I thought he did well, especially given the amount of game time he has had recently.

Hope he can build on it but if he doesn't get more starts it'll be difficult.

I just read on the BBC site that Carlisle "...sacked head coach Mike Williamson on transfer-deadline day having allowed him to sign 11 players during the window."

That's just madness.

Think it was Field who cleared off the line in that goalmouth scramble in the 1st half too.
I would pick him ahead of anyone else in the squad, personally.

A Shrew Appointment

Shrewsbury is just down the road from me and I've been to a few games. I think his QPR appointment was a big mistake but I wish him well and I'll go a bit more often now I think.

Tendonitis
at 23:41 8 Nov 2024

Wow I'm suffering the exact same, tendonitis in the left ankle. That coupled with painful muscles/joints in my legs caused by some medication I'm on and the daily dog walk becomes quite a chore.
I don't know of any way to alleviate it but I'm determined not to let it slow me down - I need the exercise.

I'm 61 btw.

I'm more partial to a strong cup of tea but usually have at least one coffee a day. Even when I've drunk multiple cups, I've never really noticed any effect.

Nick London gone!

I didn't like Nick London's commentary when I first heard it. It took quite a while for me to appreciate what he did. I also think he got better as time went on.

I'm reserving judgement on the new guy for those reasons.

If I'd watched Leicester away on the TV last season I wouldn't have seen all the sour looks on the home fans faces. That's priceless.

Labour's plans to tax private school fees will drive lots of kids from private to public education, if put into action. I believe that there is now a legal challenge being brought against the plans now.

I can't see how school numbers can fall in any event though.
