Robin van der Laan
at 08:39 30 Mar 2012

It was so good to see and hear the Robin van der Laan interview at Rams player on the official site. Despite your Stimacs and Eranios, Robbie is by far my favourite player from the days of Jim Smith and onwards. He's now running a succesful "Soccer Academy" in Canada and is hoping to uncover a gem or two for Derby County. Great player and a fantastic captain. I wish we had someone like him to run midfield today.

can be a Rams hero. Today his first touch was quite good and workrate is tremendous as usual. If he continues like this, he'll either be a huge Rams hero or sold for big bucks. Theo, Theo.

Steven Davies
at 08:04 7 Mar 2012

Steven Davies performance against the Tangerines last night was one of the best I've seen from a Rams player in recent years. He held the ball up well, intelligent lay-offs and passes, found good positons for himself and scored two good goals. I was certain he'd get a hat-trick last night, but he probably saved that for hext Tuesday:-)

A good point after a great come back against Brummies, but I fail to see the point in continuing to playing Carroll. His contribution is practically zero.

We're poor and we know it
at 22:01 18 Feb 2012

These last results have seen us moaners coming out of the closet again. All right, we haven't been as poor as we were in the latter part of last season, but the truth is we haven't exactly been shining this season either despite the occasional good result.

We're lacking one or two players Nigel says. That certainly isn't exaggerating. More like 4 or 5, I say. We need more skill, we need more physical presence in the team and we need more brains and tactics that actually works on the field, not just on the tactics board. In short, we're poor and we know it.

The board and the management seem pleased to have a team capable of perhaps finishing in mid table and probably will for years despite saying otherwise. I'm not sure I'll live long enough to see the Rams as anything other than a mid table Championship outfit. At the current speed it might take 20 years. Wake me up when September comes - in 2032.

Priskin
at 23:02 10 Dec 2011

To play Priskin is an insult to Maguire, Cywka, Ball and Bennett. To play Priskin as a lone striker is an insult to the fans. Please send him back to Portman Road asap. Everyone can see this is not working. For once Jewell's judgement is spot on.

Disappointed
at 20:11 10 Sep 2011

- with the ref for giving a penalty after guessing it was a push he didn't see. It wasn't and it changed the game.
- with the board and management for not grabbing the opportunity and getting an experienced midfielder and striker when we where on top of the league. Now the moment has gone.

Well done
at 07:59 18 Aug 2011

Well done, Nigel and the boys! As special mention should be given to the young boys O'Brien and Hendrick who were absolutely superb. The goal plus sensible comments from the two managers here:

PS: We've played both our away games this season in the home shirt. We need to do that more. I'm certain it's having a positive effect.

Moussi AND Cohen???
at 12:20 10 Jul 2011

It's a fact we're after Guy Moussi, but the latest rumour has it we are after both Moussi AND Chris Cohen. It's probably bull as Cohen is under contract for another 2 yrs and the Trees have hardly enough players left to put 11 on the field, but I have to admit it's the first rumour for many years that has got me excited.

The reports linking us with a multi million move for Venezuelan midfielder Vargas made me laugh no end. Best rumour I've heard since, well-- forever. What do these journalists smoke? Or drink? Or both?

Signings as expected
at 21:47 9 May 2011

Fielding, Ward and Robinson as expected. I'm pleased we've signed Fielding for 3 yrs. Jamie Ward has done well too, but unless Robinson was a done deal when he came on loan, giving him a two year contract is totally meaningless. I'll put 10 quid on Robinson being sent out on loan before the Christmas bells chimes.

6 or 7 new players
at 22:28 23 Apr 2011

says the manager. He also says he wants to sign 3 of the ones currently at the club; Fielding, Ward and Robinson. I applaud the signing of Ward and Fielding, but Robinson to me is like having Izale McLeod back. Ok, that leaves us with 3 or 4 NEW players.
I imagine he'll try to get Ayala back on a half season or season long loan. That leaves us with 2 or 3 NEW players.
I wouldn't be surprised if Savage was offered a one year extension to his contract and that would be regarded as signing a new player. That leaves us with 1 or 2 new player(s).
We need MINIMUM one left back, one creative midfielder and one goal scoring target man. I wonder.

Ins and outs in the summer
at 17:51 13 Mar 2011

Our manager has said we need six new players of good Championship quality for next season. If he means six plus the three we currently have and want to keep, I agree. If Fielding, Ward and Robinson are included in the six, it's not enough.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but after this season we'll lose Savage, Bywater, Ayala and Bueno. Isn't Porter out of contract as well? NC may also be looking at getting rid of Leacock. That should make at least six players out, so we need more than six in. We need a left back, two central defenders, two midfielders of whom one needs an extra bit of creative skills and a big, strong striker.

I wonder if GSE will come up with the money NC needs? I certainly wouldn't bet on it.

A point gained?
at 19:22 5 Mar 2011

So said Johnny the Duchman. We actually managed a point at home to mighty Barnsley. That must be the highlight of the season. We even had chance to score a goal during the 90+ minutes. That was 15 sec after the break. That was it. Boy, these two strikers Robinson and Ward are going to pour 'em in for us this season - and next. Because when we cannot have Hulse and Commons, we'll have Robinson and Ward who are sooo much better. Well, at least they both have lower league experience.
