 | Forum Reply | Teams called Rangers losing 5-0 by half time at 09:37 28 Aug 2025
Call me anti Scottish if you like, but it's really anti the two Glasgow clubs. I laughed, but as Club Brugge are a far better team, I didn't find it as funny as Celtic failing to score over both matches against the champions of Azerbiijan. And then having three penalties saved in the shootout! [Post edited 28 Aug 9:40]

That could well be correct Eastr. I certainly remember a lager being brewed in Wrexham by Allied Breweries, but I could easily have the wrong one! |

I'm fairly sure that they are wrong when they said that Skol was brewed in Burton. From my years of working for Ind Coope/Allied Breweries my memory tells me that it was brewed in Wrexham. I did have a pint of Long life from time to time as well! The video was heavily stacked towards the north with Tetley, Boddingtons, John Smith & Websters being featured. None of these were particulary acceptable to us southern drinkers who wouldn't want half an inch of froth! Youngs was regarded by many of us as our go to pint if available. |

And Holsten Diabetic (gold foil?) was even stronger. From memory only Barley Wines were stronger, although the arrival of Skol Special raised the bar for "English" lagers. [Post edited 27 Aug 9:56]

By far the best football move of the match & possibly the only move in the match! Matched by a controlled finish. I have no idea how good he is or will be, but in the five minutes he was on the pitch he looked the part. As did the 15 year old for Arsenal on Saturday. |

And you don't know if they will be successful at Rangers either. At the end of the summer transfer window in 2024 I liked what the club had done, but it was far from an immediate success & we mainly relied on players that were already here - Dunne, Cook, Paal, Chair, Field, Smyth (possibly add Kolli & Frey to these). At the end of this summer I quite like the look of the business the club has done, but to answer if it has been a good transfer window, I will be waiting a few months before answering. There wasn't a window at the time, but it will take a lot to beat the summer/autumn of 1973 with the signings of Givens, Bowles & Thomas. Now that is recruitment that I approved of! |

Inference is just another word for perception. I certainly didn't percieven the inference that you have. |

Thanks Jamie. This was the first Rangers away match I've not watched (live, sky or stream,) for a long time, but after reading your report I feel that I witnessed every minute! At present it seems good that we gave away three goals at Plymouth rather than making the journey to Swansea this midweek! |

And there lies one of our major problems! We can't be playing three of Chair, Saito, Dembele, Poku, Kolli etc behind a lone striker & in front of a midfield two. We don't have the players behind them to cope with how open that leaves us. I thought I read that Stephan played 4-4-2 at his previous clubs & is his preferred system. Not that I think we would cope with that too well, although the workrate of Smyth & Saito as the wide players might give us a chance. Of course, that system is not on the club's agenda. |

I struggle to understand why you don't/won't beliece it Gazza. Decides the players that we sign & sell - The chances that Stephan or Cifuentes knew much/anything about the players we've signed since summer 2024 is very remote. This especially applies to Stephan. Picks the Team - I also doubr that he goes to the head coach & says x must play, or y must play. What I don't doubt is that he would go to the head coach & say that we need x to play so that we can increase his valuation. Decides the Team tactics - As Nourry has himself stated (numerous times) that the whole of the club has been set up to play to a set system (allowing for minor adjustments), what part of this do you dispute? Has any input into the Teams dead ball situations - I'm sure Nourry doesn't, but the dead ball coach reports to him rather than Stephan. My doubt is that Stephan has any say in the matter & that the routines are practised without his input. This is conjecture as I don't know this, but it appears to be the normal practice at clubs. What does the manager/coach do??? - I expect he adheres to what was agreed between himself & the club at his interview. In my view that would mean being in general control of the coaching & team selection as specified. |

That is something you appear to be an expert on. |

Best wishes Andy for a complete recovery. Take your time & don't try to rush back too quickly. |
 | Forum Reply | Chair at 10:08 23 Aug 2025
Of course Chair ahould be in our side, but I'm far from sure as to what position he should play. It is only a sample of 2, but I can't remember him coming close to creating a chance in either match. As for his performance at Watford, he certainly improved in the second half, but IMO only Dembele (awful) & Smyth were worse than him in the first half. A lot of that is due to us not being able to play with three of this type of players between a midfield two & a lone forward. And yes, Madsen was very poor as well! |

I only go to a couple or so away games per season, but my wife is still a football widow when we're playing as I have a regular date with FAWANEWS. Not this week though! My wife will still be a football widow, as I venture over the Dartford Bridge to support Chesham at Tonbridge. Of course, I will keep checking my phone for score updates, but the realisation that I can shrug away bad results/performances without anger is something new. I've seen many inept/uncaring games from Rangers during my time, but nearly all of those were at the end of the season when we were going through the motions. Starting the season with them is beyond my comprehension! I think I've reached the stage that I'm only going to home matches for the get together pre match in the pub. I understand the club wanting to encourage younger supporters & I'm pleased that we have increased our support in that age range, but under 25 is only a small percentage of out fan base & to take us oldies for granted (that is how it feels) might not be a wise move. |

It wouldn't include the amount for the add on's as they have not been realised. That part would be payable by Palace only if they are achieved. |
 | Forum Reply | Eze at 16:59 20 Aug 2025
I don't know how often the pitch should be relayed, but it's only three years ago that it was. It's why we played Watford away (lost 4-0) first game of the season when we should have been at home. I'm not doubting that it's needed though. |
 | Forum Reply | The QPR summer transfer rumours thread at 12:30 19 Aug 2025
I have no knowledge of the truth of this, but I've heard that we are trying to sign Alex Matos on loan from The Pensioners. Apparently he is a 20 year old defensive midfield player who played 20 games for Oxford United last season & 19 for Huddersfield the season before. Has anyone else heard anything about this & whether he actually makes/wins tackles, or is just another "playmaker"? |
 | Forum Reply | Anyone see the penalty Leeds got? at 09:46 19 Aug 2025
No gazza, the ball hitting the arm is not a free kick/penalty. This is the one law that still states it has to be intentional. HANDLING THE BALL For the purposes of determining handball offences, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. Not every touch of a player’s hand/arm with the ball is an offence. It is an offence if a player: deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, for example moving the hand/arm towards the ball touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised scores in the opponents' goal: directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental The goalkeeper has the same restrictions on handling the ball as any other player outside the penalty area. If the goalkeeper handles the ball inside their penalty area when not permitted to do so, an indirect free kick is awarded but there is no disciplinary sanction. However, if the offence is playing the ball a second time (with or without the hand/arm) after a restart before it touches another player, the goalkeeper must be sanctioned if the offence stops a promising attack or denies an opponent or the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity. |

It appears that the Morecambe takeover has finally happened & been approved by the National League. Hopefully they will be able to start their season soon. |
