So was I Boston.

Jim Magilton was their manager when they had last won & I think it was said that he was sacked three days after the win. A few months later he fell out with Akos Buzsaky!

It was good to see today that Norwich have found the perfect replacement for Angus Gunn!

Have a look at that table, Aunty Mable.

I've just looked & I can't see anything that is more brutal in those months as we've already played 3 out of the top 5.

Perrhaps having to play teams near the bottom might not be so good for us though!

COOK
at 21:09 4 Oct 2025

I think Cook deserves to play & that it looked a better combination with Morrison, but the decision might depend on whether it is felt that we need pace (Mbengue) or aerial (Morrison).

I wouldn't be too worried whichever two of the trio is selected.

I hope you enjoyed the day Stowmarket.

The trip home should be better than on Wednesday night!

Stephan stands by team selection after QPR draw and gives Clarke-Salter update
at 10:15 3 Oct 2025

I didn't like us making five changes on Wednesday & I definitely wouldn't play two of Hayden, Field & Varane together.

What I do find strange though is the concenus that we would have won if we'd selected our "best team". I'm assuming this is the team that started last Saturday, but IMO they played worse than the dross we watched against Oxford! We have no automatic right to win any match & Oxford could easily have arrived with the same expectations as us.

The chances that we would not rotate during this week were always extremely low. A reminder that Nourry stated at the fans forum that we didn't rotate enough last season & that would be corrected this season.

Oxford Utd Reflection

Good luck with getting a reply to this as I've pointed it out numerous times but SE refuses to answer! Every team carried out this practice & I personally knew players who were totally f***** by their early 30's.

It may be irrelevant, but the players also didn't endure the pre/post match warm up/down, that must be the equivalent of playing nearly an extra half! You can't cheat in these!

Could this be the most open Champ season for years...?

I thought Ipswich would as well Dave, but hardly any of their supporters that I know thought so!

They appear to have lost their togetherness & that is something that is very hard to replace or win back.

Coming from a split family, last night I carried out a scouting mission on Bristol City.

In the first half Ipswich made the mistake of having most of the pocession, which led to Bristol strolling through them at the back. Thankfully, we're not likely to follow that route & we can certainly cause their defence problems as they have less pace than us. The right back, in particular, looked like a suicidal moment away from losing them the game. Not that Furlong was much better for Ipswich!

For possibly the first time, I would say that Armsrtrong looked as if he might be a footballer after he came on as a sub. I wasn't surprised that he made runs behind the Ipswich defence or that the passes he received were good, but Sinclair kept the ball under control & picked out the right pass. Even the save from his one on one with the 'keeper was due to good goalkeeping rather than a miss.

Saturday will definitely be a game where we need less than 40% of the ball & break quickly from defence.

Please Clive, don't allow yourself to be bullied into optimism in the future.
Whenever you predict a Queens Park Rangers win, the world is thrown out of kilter!

Thanks to Jaz for the pod.

Consistency
at 13:56 29 Sep 2025

I don't think we have been consistent in many of the near 60 years I've been watching Rangers!

I would also say that you are quoting periods when Rangers won the second division (championship) or finished towards the top of the Premier (first division). I don't think many others would compare the team of today with the second & third best teams in our history!

A few of my favourite things – Report
at 10:02 29 Sep 2025

The stream I "watched" was possibly the worst I've ever seen, so I'm not sure I'm qualfied to make any comments about the game! However, the stream behaved itself for the opening period of the second half & for 15 minutes Dembele looked like winning the match for us. Sadly, he disappeared, as did the steam, around the hour mark.

It looked to me that Wednesday had prepared themselves for how we have recently played & carried out their duties to a man. Apart from Bannan, who once again took us apart, I thought that Brown was very impressive.

On to Oxford. Hopefully the same result as the match last season, but please can we have a better performance than that game produced!

Owls’ problems coming home to roost – Preview
at 10:34 27 Sep 2025

Thanks Clive, possibly the least humerous match preview that you've written, but certainly one of the most importtant.

I was a firm believer in FFP etc as a way to keep clubs out of serious financial problems, but I can now see as many/more issues that it has evoked than what it has solved. Like you, I can't see why "gifts" to a football club can't be regarded as income rather than as a loan, whether they are given by a club owner or a member of the population. Since the formation of The Football League, clubs have relied on the generosity of the owner/main shareholder & the vast majority of clubs survived without too much hardship. It also gave us, the supporters, a chance to dream, like Del Boy, that come next year we will be millionaires!

Now to the actual game. I hope that all of you going have a great afternoon (that would mean we've won!), but in the past three(?) seassons we've managed to turn regular victories against Wednesday to inevitable defeats. Apart from the Alfie Lloyd equaliser of course!

Far be it for me to defend PPR, but he did post £30k per month, not per week.

Unless it's been edited by the time I read it!

Personally Gazza, I wouldn't make any changes for Saturday, but I don't think you can look at that match in isolation.

IF he plays the same team, how many changes does he make for the Oxford match & then for the trip to Bristol City which is less than 70 hours later?

I've no idea how you go about prioritising the individual games & would like to see changes kept to a minimum for all three, especially as we then have 2 weeks before our next game.

Whether our coaching & medical staff will do that is another matter.

Who do you enjoy watching QPR play against
at 10:19 23 Sep 2025

Possibly Manchester City as over the years we have had some great games against them.

Ipswich are the side I dread playing the most. Win or get a creditable draw & I'm "over the moon", but lose & I'm "knocking on death's door"!

I'm sure there will be changes over the three fixtures as Nourry stated at the Fans Forum that one of the problems last season was that we didn't rotate enough.

That statement has stuck with me as I think a lot of supporters (including myself) thought we rotated too much!

Who misses out - best team v best plan
at 10:07 23 Sep 2025

Which three players will be left out of the squad? My guess would be Cook & Field are most at risk, with either Smyth or Dembele being possibilities. That is providing that Chair, Poku & JCS all make the squad!

As to changes in the starting line up, I have no idea but will give a few suggestions which might look preposterous! JCS for Mbengue, Chair for Madsen & Poku for Vale or Burrell (Vale playing just behind Kone as he did against Charlton).

Of course, I don't see all of these happening (if any of them) & I doubt that they will be rushed back. When was the last decade that there would be a debate about who would be left out of the match squad? It's normally been about who will we name to fulfil the numbers!

I don't know which match you decide is more winnable with making changes.

Thankfully, that is the coaching staff's problem & not ours!

Are you sure we fcked him off Baz? Maybe, just maybe, Paal had already made it clear that he wouldn't renew.

Back to the thread, RND has performed well above what my expectations were & has given us four defenders capable in the air. That helps with the problem of Nardi being stuck on his line.
