Yep, very sad to see Fiacre go. From his press interview, Cork City boss Ger Nash said Kels has "had offers and opportunities from clubs in England, but he’s desperate to be here, and to play for Cork City". Maybe the current uncertainty over the takeover was a factor (though Kels probably knows far more than we do), but it sounds more like a spiritual homecoming, and with a young family, I can't fault him on that.
...for giving me the chance to enjoy some football in the close season. Oh, hang on!
Two terrible performances. Senegal thoroughly deserved that win tonight, and whilst we scraped a 1-0 against Andorra, IT WAS F'CKING ANDORRA! The only consolation, and it's a slim one, we won the game that mattered. Thomas Tuchel and the team will be slaughtered in the press, and they deserve it.
I saw some recent photos on the club's X-feed, and the new grass is already growing thick and fast. It seemed to be growing better on the east side, presumably out of the shadow of the West stand - but it might have been just the angle of view on the photos I suppose?
Weird coincidence - the other day the highlights of our FA Cup win at Sudbury popped up as a YouTube suggestion, so I watched it. McCoulsky scored our 4th goal, and a good one it was too. Don't remember anything else he achieved, and he was gone again by Christmas I think.
I suspect the glyphosate mentioned in the original article probably explains why it’s just soil and no grass? If it were me, I wouldn’t pinch a few bag fulls for an allotment.
Quite right, more often than not their first quote will be a bit of a punt, see if they can get away with it. I don't haggle as much as I probably should, but I certainly hold providers to account if I've paid for a service that wasn't up to scratch for whatever reason. Rarely fail to get some form of refund and/or compensation, particularly if I get the relevant ombudsman/ woman involved - they love this stuff!
Excellent - the early kick-off and a social event the night before put the kybosh on being there for the 4-0 drubbing, but usually a trip to the Bescot is one of the easier trips from here. Looking forward to giving it a go next season, providing the fixture computer plays nice.
I didn't see the game, taking Alfie back to Bristol after a surprise visit yesterday evening. Will Mat Sadler survive this? Plenty (most?) on the Walsall forum want him out now. So we've lost a reasonably local trip to Plough Lane next season, and possibly an outside chance of signing Alastair Smith, but I think Walsall will be a weaker side than AFCW if the result had gone the other way, so not all necessarily bad news.
I must admit I quite enjoyed that one, a good game between two decent sides. Even though my (maternal) grandad was a Charlton fan, and I work for the group sponsoring them, I would have been okay with the underdogs Leyton Orient getting through. Particularly so after being there to see their relegation to the National League as a result of the loathsome Bechetti.
But, to be fair, the best team won, Charlton deserved it, and they should be (at least) a Championship club. It also keeps the ever-popular trip to Brisbane Road potentially just one season away, or who knows, next season in one of the cup competitions?
Not the best game I've watched, but Sheffield United were in complete control with barely 15 minutes to go, and still managed to throw it away against the resurgent Black Cats. Sheffield's disallowed second goal seemed harsh on first viewing, but ultimately the right call. I was pleased for Sunderland, even if they'll likely only have the single season and then get relegated straight back down.
A perfect 10 for Sheffield United though, ten play-off campaigns, ten failures.
Edit: I should also add, three cracking goals too!
