Roberto Martinez describes Andrea Orlandi as having the best left foot in the Championship

Martinez was speaking after Orlandi scored his first goal in pre-season in a victory in Spain and it now seems that the managers expectations are as high as many fans for Orlandi this coming season.

Orlandi signed for the Swans on the day the transfer window closed last August and had a promising start to his career at the Liberty - a start that was abruptly cut short by a season ending injury back at the start of this year.

But now back and ready for the challenge it seems that Orlandi is at the head of the queue for the left wing spot against Charlton on the opening day with Roberto saying: “Without a doubt Andrea is going to be the best left-footed player in the Championship

“It was just the other side of his game that Andrea needed to work on. You have to be effective and you have to be ready for the British game, and I think Andrea is ready now.

“He understands what is needed now and he has come back really focused and worked hard since day one.

“It’s great to see him score his first goal. With the quality he has got he should hit the back of the net a lot more often.”
