Martinez Happy With Set Piece Defending Thursday, 21st Aug 2008 07:52 Roberto Martinez says he is happy with the way the Swans have progressed on set piece defending Two weeks ago the Swans were undone by two set pieces at Charlton to lose their first Championship match of the season. A free header from a corner put them on the back foot immediately whilst towards the end of the game they conceded a second from a free kick and returned from the Valley with nothing to show for their efforts. However, two weeks on and Roberto believes his side have moved forward on that front although he accepts that their lack of Championship experience means that they still have some adapting to do before they are used to life in the higher division. Tomorrow will see that education continue at Plymouth where victory would see the Swans move into the top half of the table and send a warning to their rivals that they are on their way. Speaking in today's Western Mail, the Swans boss said “We’ve dealt with a huge amount of set-pieces since the Charlton game and we’ve looked very solid “Look at that specific set-piece against Charlton and go through it and you can see there are three bad decisions from one set-piece and that doesn’t happen too often. “Of course we’ve got to keep growing and keep getting better, I’ve said before there is no experience at this level here and that’s why sometimes you’ve got to take a bit of extra time to adapt to the division. “But we knew that and there are plenty of positive things to look at in other areas.” Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
