Stephen Dobbie has his eyes firmly fixed on a starting spot for the Swans against Hull

Dobbie is back at Swansea City and very much in favour after playing a big part in Blackpool's promotion to the Premier League last season.

Dobbie was a summer purchase 12 months ago - the last signing made by Roberto Martinez - but did not fit into the Swans plans under Paulo Sousa and was shipped out to Blackpool where his goals helped the Seasiders win an unlikely promotion.

But that is now in the past and after his match winner against Cheltenham last Saturday he is very much looking forward to the season opener against Hull a week on Saturday.

He told the Evening Post "I was very pleased with the goal against Cheltenham. I struck it very well and the keeper didn't get anywhere near it

"But the difference is doing it against the big boys in the Championship, that's when it matters.

"These are only pre-season games, but of course it does boost your confidence.

"It has given me more confidence going into this trip.

"Hopefully I'll get a few more goals and that will put me in the starting line-up for the game against Hull — that's what I've got my eyes on.

When I came down last year my aim was to score regularly in the Championship, but it didn't really work out as I would have liked," he admitted.

"I went to Blackpool and it did me a lot of good. Over the last six months I've really had a level head. I couldn't get carried away despite the good situation at Blackpool.

"But that is in the past now — I'm back with Swansea and I'm glad to be back with the squad.

"I've managed to score some important goals, so I know I can do it at this level."
