Bookies Don't See Saints In Meltdown Friday, 30th May 2014 13:14 They say that you never see a poor bookmaker and there is usually a good reason for that, they rarely get too much wrong when it comes to odds.
Despite it seeming like Saints are in total freefall to their supporters that is not how the bookmakers see it, although it has to be said that its early days yet and they are going to last season's form rather than next, they still don't see Saints as a club likely to be relegated next season.
In this respect Saints are 13th favourite for the drop with the best odds being 10/1 and the worst 7/1 a long way off the 11/20 that is being offered on Burnley.
The bookies at the moment anyway see Saints as a club who at worst are going to have a lot of money to spend in the summer and if spent wisely still capable of a similar finish to 2013/14.
It does have to be said however that there is a lot bigger gap between Everton in 7th in the odds table at between 100-250/1 and Saints, the gap is shorter as you go up, but Swansea who are 9th in the list are still half the odds of Saints

I know what you're saying and absolutely right. All the going on's at the moment I think although a little out of sync are really non-issues. I actually feel that although the Saints haven’t got the press in their control (nor wives and sisters on social networks) everything else is as expected and perhaps even planned for. Ricky Lambert, great guy, great player for us and will be forever in our history books. 4M (or whatever the real price may end up) will be great business for the Saints, but I'm more made up for him. I'm sure we would all give our left or right, possibly both, Gonads to play for our football team. This Roy of the Rovers (I know well used and worn out comparison) is simply fantastic for Ricky and well deserved. We must all wish him well and success, boyhood team and Champions league football fantastic way to enter the last phase of his football playing years. After all he may have been off to West Ham last January, so this was always on the cards. AL, LS and the rest, as far as I can make out is all rumor and speculation. Painful to keep reading and listen to I know, but at the moment everything else ties in to what the Chairman was saying a couple of days ago. Talk of meltdown and mass exodus by the press is just sensationalism to add justification to cut and paste reporting. The board, I feel confident, will get it right. As a glass half full type of person think that within the next week or so Southampton FC will be making the news for all the right reasons. New Manager and new players targeted, perhaps, confirmation that no one else is leaving and back on track for next season, just in time to watch the WC. There is no real reason to think any differently.

Good point well made Nick and good post Rednose. Let the management team get on with building for next season and leave talk of meltdown to the tabloids.

The odds will change if we lose more players and if we make a risky managerial appointment.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Derby County Polls |
