West Brom winger.
Pleased to see that we are being linked with him.
Very good player, sets a lot of goals up.
Unlike someone like Edozie, he is a very good crosser of the ball.
Very direct, always tries to get to the byline, but more by skill than express pace.
This would be a bit of a statement of intent if we could get him in, I think.

Garner likely to be on at about 10.30ish.
Atmosphere building; loads of Saints here.
Would be brilliant if Garner wins; talk of a fight at SMS next summer if he does…..

Will Still talks an awful lot of sense.
However, he is saying “some players need to go”, which while not in the league of Redknapp’s “it’s not my team” stuff, is still to some degree a bit of arse-covering.
He knows fully well it is going to be damned hard to get overpaid underachieving players out of the club.
(Though Christ knows why we gave one of them a new 3-year contract).
He also knows we will need to get those players out to enable funds to be released for players he does actually want in.
I just get the feeling there is a bit of groundwork being laid to set the scene if results don’t go well for us in the games that actually count.
Would be interesting to be a fly on the wall in some of the discussions between Still and Spors over the next few weeks. |

I keep seeing reference to this 23-match unbeaten run from two seasons ago.
First comment is that it was 22 matches.
As has been established on here, it is a principle that Cup matches don't count.
Here is the run of games:-
Southampton 3–1 Leeds United
Stoke City 0–1 Southampton
Southampton 1–1 Rotherham United
Hull City 1–2 Southampton
Preston North End 2–2 Southampton
Southampton 3–1 Birmingham City
Millwall 0–1 Southampton
Southampton 2–1 West Bromwich Albion
Huddersfield Town 1–1 Southampton
Southampton 1–0 Bristol City
Southampton 2–0 Cardiff City
Watford 1–1 Southampton
Coventry City 1–1 Southampton

Some undeniably good results in there, and the Huddersfield 5-3 game is one of my favourite games I have ever seen at St. Mary's. However the majority of those games were simply games we would have been expected to win. We didn't face Leicester or Ipswich (4 defeats out of 4 against those two), at all in that run of games.
There were 6 draws, a number of which should not have been, and we did concede more goals than we should have done.
To laud Bazunu and Manning with high praise for this achievement is bizarre.
Should we have a clamour for the return of Sekou Mara so that he can come on again for the last 5 minutes of games when the game is already won?

Solak said a few weeks ago that we were after an attacking midfielder in addition to a striker.
We have signed the striker (Downs).
We don't seem to have been linked with many attacking midfielders.
Rene from the Echo seems to think Matsuki will be loaned out.
Could Jay Robinson be the answer? |

Weirdly, I saw the details briefly on the club's ticket website about half an hour ago. And then they took them down......
Anyway, it looks like tickets go on sale at 9.30am tomorrow morning.
11 aways is the first threshold.
Allocation is 1,535.
