Harry Darling : Torn between the Swans and a decision to leave

Harry Darling continues to be the name on everyone’s lips, well at least if you are a Swansea City supporter.

The goal scoring centre half is out of contract in thirty days but is now in a position to move to another club as we head towards June, and a short transfer window. There have been several attempts to get him to sign a new deal at Swansea City, but until now there has been little sign of him agreeing terms. The issue as we all know is the money on offer elsewhere which we can confirm has come from five clubs.

With a settled family life in Swansea and a contract offer absolutely crammed with incentives and a basic salary which exceeds twenty thousand pounds a week the centre half could sign for the Swans right now and be a multi millionaire at the end of his contract. In fact his signing on fee alone is described as just that. The issue is of course for a player now in his prime - is the gamble of moving from Swansea to pastures new. His family, including wife Sophia are torn between leaving Swansea with their daughter Gigi who is one year old. Harry has been encountered so many emotions there have been times he just cannot settle on a decision. We have been quoted it’s ’The biggest decision he has had to make in his life’

We have been told exclusively that Darling (below) has now made a decision and that could well be to stay at Swansea. The club have sold him all they have, their plans, the summers transfer targets, new staff and what we expect to be a ‘big signing’ coming in this closed season. Offers elsewhere will be more but the trajectory of the Swans now is climbing higher. Also we have been informed that even the Swansea contract offer could make him for life, especially if the clubs ambitions are met by a Harry Darling committed to the Swansea cause. Players dream about being in his position with multi million offers on the table, even from the Swans.

What we have from the club is that they have spoken to Darling in the last few days and if he stays that will be announced next week. The only positive we have is that ‘You will be in for a surprise no matter what he decides to do, he doesn’t want to make it known as still there are matters to double check, but his mind is now made up’ No sources we have indicate a day when the decision is announced. For us that tells us he has had a change of heart over the last seven days, a time where once again Harry has been in conversation with the club via his agent.

That’s the latest we have, and really it’s frustrating not being able to find out more. The rumour mill is off the scale on this, most of it wrong, so we can only hope that Harry’s better half has had the final say because that will be the clincher.
