Saints fans knew that Aaron Ramsdale needs to play in the Premier League if he wants to play for England, now it has been confirmed that he will be doing just that with Newcastle United.

Southampton FC have confirmed that Aaron Ramsdale will join Newcastle United on a season long loan.

They have said little else on the matter other than

"The club wishes Aaron well at Newcastle, who finished fifth in the Premier League last term to qualify for the Champions League for the forthcoming campaign."

But it is believed that the deal involves a loan fee of £4 million for the season, plus Newcastle covering all of his wages, at the end of the loan spell they will also have an option to buy, although it is not clear what the criteria for that option to be exercised is.

I am sure that all Saints fans also wish Aaron their best wishes for a successful loan spell.
