Ben Brereton Diaz's time at St Mary's has yet to take off, last season saw him barely play and he left for Sheffield United on loan for the second half of the season.

This season those who have seen him play, see a man whose confidence is shot to pieces and who knows he is not part of the future under Will Still, he looks a man with the World on his shoulders and that has impacted on his form.

His old club Sheffield United are keen to get him back on their books but they will face competition from West Bromwich Albion & Middlesbrough for his signature.

That can only be good news for Southampton who will be keen to avoid a repeat of previous situations with players who haven't performed for Saints, but have been hard to get off the books on a permanent basis.

With Brereton Dias only costing the club £7 million a year ago, they should be able to get a fair chunk. if not all of it back before the transfer window slams shut.
