Dale’s home game against Braintree Town on Saturday will be refereed by JAMES WESTGATE.

In his third season on the National List, this will be Mr Westgate’s fourth Dale appointment.

We first saw the Sunderland-based referee in October 2023 when he took charge of the 4-3 home defeat to Oldham.

His next Dale match was at Ebbsfleet in March 2024 where we conceded a last minute goal to lose 2-1.

More recently, James was at Spotland in April as Dale recorded the third of four 4-0 home wins this calendar year against Eastleigh.

Saturday will only be James’ second game of the season, following on from him refereeing Carlisle’s 3-3 home draw with Boreham Wood three weeks ago.
