And still the strikers keep coming

Leeds will offer a contract to Luciano Becchio, after Argentinian striker’s impressive display in Saturday’s friendly at Barnet.

Becchio played 68 minutes at Underhill and although he didn’t score, Gary Mc.Allister was delighted with his performance.  The manager told the Yorkshire Post "We'll have to sort something out very quickly, but I like what I've seen.  I thought Luciano was excellent.  He's come here playing for his career and he worked ever so hard for the team."

But Macca has decided not to offer  Marcus Haber a deal, despite hinting earlier in the week that he was reasonably impressed by the Canadian’s form during the tour of Ireland.  He will ‘keep tabs’ on the striker to see how his career develops, but for now he won’t be offering the player a contract. "Marcus has just come up short. He has a number of options he will pursue – but he's definitely one we're going to keep an eye on."

I would have thought by now that Macca would have brought enough strikers into the squad, but it seems that he is also likely to end up with Jay Bothroyd. Wolves have accepted a bid of£300,000 for the player, and all that remains is to agree personal terms.   Leeds have also completed the signing of Robert Snodgrass from Livingstone, and though the Scot is primarily a winger , he can also play up front if need be.
