Livesey was brought into Spotland on a loan period which eventually lasted three months. The 19 year old came from Bolton, where he had a sprinkling of Premier League action for the Wanderers, and was given a similar loan period at Notts County where he worked with Dale manager Steve Parkin who was assistant at County at the time.

Livesey's first game was against Mansfield Town, and he had a stormer of a match against them. It was probably his best game for Dale, but to suggest that sounds like he went massively downhill after that game, which wasn't the case. He went on to make a total of thirteen appearances for Dale, which included a sending off against Boston United, and he would have added to these had it not been for the suspension and a slight injury that he picked up.

It would be extremely fair that he did a little bit better than the other Bolton loanee (Kangana Lord Ndiwa) brought into Spotland as part of the deal.

Since leaving Dale, Livesey has gone on to have a successful spell with Carlisle United.
