Saints have dipped into the loan market once again to bolster the squad ahead of the game against Tranmere.

Nicholas Bignall has arrived from Reading on loan till November 4th, the 20 year old has not quite managed to break into Readings first team, a single appearance as sub being his only league action, plus 3 of league cup games, two goals in a 5-1 drubbing of Burton last year being the highlight.

Described as a player noted for his pace and his strength he is able to play both as a forward and as a winger, being that we have plenty of wide options already it seems that its up front that we want him.

He has spent loan spells at Northampton, Cheltenham & Stockport and from his stats doesnt appear to have set the world alight at any of these clubs although he did manage to score at all of them, his most recent spell was at Stockport in the first half of last season where in 11 appearances he scored twice, in fairness though Stockport were a struggling team and he may not have been used as a forward but as a winger.

Comparisons will obviously be drawn with Michail Antonio and it has to be said that Antonio is now ahead of him in the pecking order, however at this time last year the roles were reversed and perhaps like Antonio a spell at Saints could kick start his career.
