![]() Friday, 8th Oct 2010 15:21 by TWTD.co.uk Town striker Connor Wickham netted a debut goal for England’s U19s as they defeated Albania 6-1 in the opening game of their European Championships qualifying group in Belgium this afternoon. Wickham added the third goal just before half-time, having come close on a number of earlier occasions. The 17-year-old was replaced with 20 minutes remaining, presumably as a precaution with a match against Cyprus on Sunday and against the hosts on Wednesday. Elsewhere, academy youngsters Josh Carson, who was on the bench for the first team at Exeter earlier in the season, and Caolan Lavery started for Northern Ireland’s U19s in their European Championships qualifier against Switzerland in Germany, which is currently 0-0. Fellow Blue Rory McKeown is on the subs’ bench. Town could have three players involved in full internationals later this evening.
