mattthelegend added 11:20 - Nov 7 TimSaint added 11:21 - Nov 7 Played em off the park and deserves to win by a couple more. Everyone did well, even Stephens after a shakey start. The defence restricted the Geordies to just 4 shots all game and McCarthy produced an excellent save from their only real chance. JWP and Rom bossed the midfield and we created enough to comfortably win. We are top of the league - so let's really kick on and make this a season to remember. ....or call the league off now and award Saints the title !! :-) Bettwsresident added 12:49 - Nov 7 We were brilliant. They are supposed to be a hlaf decent side but were terrified of us and losing the ball, when we pressed it was like a horde, JWP, KWP, Walcott and Armstrong had their right side on toast. I had to ask Alexa for Gegen style this morning! Then we confused and played with them, some superb sequence of one touch passing going forward(!), superb flicks and step overs. The through the legs pass from Djenpo for Walcotts chance was astonishing and worthy of Le Tiss. Armstrong kept trying to thread one through in the knowledge that JWP and Romeo would mop up any counter if the pass went astry. When we won the ball, we surged forward,, JWP was brilliant. Several times we had Vestergaard and Bednarek on the corners of the 6 yard box, then when they tried to press we just passed through them, McCarthy was playing as a sweeper, providing the out ball all the time making it 11 against 10. It was tactically brilliant and the players all played their roles. The last time we played that well was probably the 0-2 over chelsea when Pelle scored that screamer.... If Darlow hadn't flicked the romeo thunderbolt it would have been perfect.....What a performance!!!! dirk_doone added 13:29 - Nov 7 Superb team performance. A special mention for Jack Stephens who playing on his 'wrong side' at left back did everything that was asked of him against a team who have exposed the frailties of full backs like Valery and Targett in the past. Captain Fantastic, James Ward-Prowse, is looking more and more like a future England captain. They were all good but Armstrong and Adams also deserve a special mention. What well-taken goals they were. A six-match unbeaten run now. Let's just keep that going. and see what happens. We're already nearly a quarter of the way through the season.
