Laudrup - Stay or Go? 17:07 - Jan 19 with 14418 viewseastbanker

After today I would not be sorry if Laudrup went at the end of the season. Whilst I admit that selecting a team for today was always going to be difficult given our injuries, the reluctance to change things around during the game was nothing short of criminal. When you are 3 - 0 down at home and you have two strikers on the bench it would be rank stupidity not to throw one on to attempt to influence the result. I know that many people do not see Vazquez as the answer but Rory Donnelly could have been given half an hour to prove himself. We were going to lose anyway so whats wrong with taking a gamble. Since Laudrup has taken over we have lost our tempo, at best we are pedestrian and predictable. His insistence on getting our wide men to tuck inside has hindered our attacking players as there is less room in which to operate. Why did Pozuelo stay on the pitch for 90 minutes when he was guilty of giving away possession time and time again. Add the fact that it would seem that, despite injuries to 9 first team players, we don't look like strengthening in this transfer window, life as a Swans fan is far from easy at the moment.

Laudrup - Stay or Go? on 12:19 - Jan 20 by Phaedrus

people have been questioning the commitment of our spanish contingent already, what sort of effect will getting rid of Laudrup have on all the players who stayed because he did?

good post, I find it really hard to understand why anyone thinks "getting rid of Laudrup at the mo makes sense, definitely not now.

Laudrup - Stay or Go? on 20:47 - Jan 19 by Catullus

The last two games we played quite well to start but both times we folded second half. I've asked before but what happens at half time?
Laudrup (I was ill today so watched at home) looked beaten, his body language was crap. And he always talks us down against big teams, like we concede the points before kick off.

I did say a short while back that I was wondering about Laudrup. Thing is if we get rid now, who would we bring in? I can't think of anyone who's available that we'd want.
No, for better or for worse we stand with him and the team.
Yes there are problems, I've been saying it for weeks. But sacking our manager now seems counter productive to me.
We all need to accept we're in a relegation battle and we can bitch ad much as we like on here (and I will!!) but on match day we have to get behind the team.

Its nowt to do with me PROSS has this post.
IS CATULLUS worth derision.
We ll be shot of this faceless passionless cold fish come MAY .
please God he s not damaged us beyond repair.

Players at hard times look for inspiration and they wont get it f rom him really will they.

F*ck me, it would be like sacking Stanley Baker before the final attack:

btw. Can we actually learn the words to Men Of Harlech (2 Mins 35 seconds)

I don't think we will get rid, I think he will go by mutual agreement, if so, and we stay up, I hope we get someone in early to build a team that he (whoever it is) wants.

I hope Laudrup stays though, as let's face it this year we have been sufffering from European games, even the season for fans has been a tad dissapointing even without taking the results into consideration, but with all the weekday and Sunday games, late kick offs. I am a 3.00 Saturday man, dont mind a few variations but old fashioned at heart.

He didn't do bad last year without the distraction, which I feel unfortunatley has been his priority and therefore our downfall.

Ah yes, the European games. Is that the reason for our problems?
Those of us who suggested the Europa might cause issues were completely dismissed by the PS blowhards!!

It's a funny old game.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

He has to stay would cost us a fortune to get shot,
Money that could be invested in the midfielder winger striker that we are desperate for.

He has some major faults though.

Never known a Swansea manager fall out with so many players.

KI
Bartley
Graham
Lita why wasnt he on the bench today?

Ki - Faked an injury and f***d off to Korea for too long,
Bartley - Through his dummies out during the week of Liverpool/COC Final
Graham - Piss head
Lita - Widely published that he is a bad egg

But all this is Laudrup's fault

Laudrup has been specialising in duff signings much like your neighbours up the road y'all. Hernandez has the athleticism of a 60 year-old jazz mucisian aka me.

He needs help with signing players and the concept of counter-attacking football as an accomplishment to possession based football, but what do I know?

All I know is that everything I say makes the benjamins$$ and everything I play makes the chicas put out y'all, the playas know where im coming from

all our heroes have flaws, I once saw Duke Ellington slap my nephew's child

Laudrup is responsible for the slow-paced possession football and also the signings who in my humble opinion are not athletic enough.

Granted you are correct that the list you mentioned are not of Laudrup's making, but its almost irrelevant tbh cos it is his job to manage the club and bring-in the playas he wants to play, for this is where he may be judged

STAY

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

I don't think anyone really thinks he should go now. I think the most significant flaw in him as a manager is his insistence on us not quickly closing down. This in marked contrast to Brendan's "...the only time my players can relax is when they've got the ball" philosophy.

I find his defeatist attitude to the big teams baffling. Anyone with the most rudimentary knowledge of psychology will understand how this is bound to affect the players subconsciously or otherwise.

Saying that the worst performer this year has been the home crowd.

The orthodox are always orthodox, regardless of the orthodoxy.

United last week and spurs this week. Surely we could have had a point from each at least

? Are you serious?! Utd away is still a huge test and Spurs are in a great run of form away from home. Lets focus on the next 3. We've been battered by injuries and Europe hasn't helped. The new signings we've had have changed the way we play. All this means it was always going to be a difficult season. We've done well not to be in this position before and Laudrup was key in that last season. We'll pull through

To the posters that wants him to leave. At least have the concistency to not blaim him for being disloyal when he leaves.

I'm bookmarking this thread for later use.

Same goes for Vazquez, Tiendali, De Guzman, Lamah, Hernandez and Routledge who have been criticized and told to f_ck off all season.

Bartley - NOT god ENOUGH!
Graham - Brillant footballer, scores when he want! 30 games 1 goal since he left.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

We didn't need any of them when they left!! But I'd have Ki and Bartley back right now.
And yes, I'd be getting another striker in too, if I could. I even think I would have considered kevin Phillips over Vasquez right now. Didn't think I'd be saying that, had high hopes for AV, damn shame he hasn't done better for himself, and us!

I've seen some beauts post on here in my time but this topic takes the biscuit and just shows how spoilt a lot of our fans have become with our success over the last decade.
Our upward curve was always going to tail off eventually. I don't think it's just a coincidence that it's happened during our most gruelling season ever for volume of games.

The inability for most to put things into context is staggering and really shows an immaturity and short-sightedness when it comes to football. Let's look at things in context;
1. Most recently, we've just had the worst run of fixtures that we've had since coming into the PL. We knew that this run was coming since the start of the season and the more sensible and realistic of us knew that we were unlikely to pick up many points from it.
2. Going for the calendar year of 2013, it is hardly surprising that our season fizzled out last season when we had won the League cup and reached our points target relatively early - We reached 36 points, the total that Wigan went down with, on 9th Feb - even from that point until the end of the season we played Man Utd, Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and still picked up 10 points.

"Throw on another striker" is quite possibly the most idiotic, childlike strategy I have ever heard. Some people need to step away from the Xbox and get with the real world.
We were already pushing forward against Spurs when chasing the game. Had we taken off a midfielder or defender (or two) to bring Vazquez or Donnelly on, there would have been a lot more gaps for Spurs to exploit and, with less midfielders/defenders to hold onto the ball for buildup, we would've been steamrollered by a side of their quality (Go on, somebody say "Just lump it forward!")

With regards to Donnelly, I am eager to see what the kid can do, but calling for the manager's head because he hasn't played a youngster who is scoring for the stiffs? What planet are these people on?
Whoever raised the question about Lita must be on drugs.

And finally, Ki didn't make it in this side last season. He's playing well for Sunderland because he's playing in an entirely different role there, one which we don't have room for him here (Does anyone honestly think he'd get in before Michu, Pozuelo or Shelvey?).
The addition of the clause in Ki's clause was most probably negotiated by Sunderland and drove up the sum that they would have paid us. You can't blame them. If we had wanted to recall him, they'd probably want the entire month to find a replacement.

People need to relax and realize that the largest waves of the season are over and there are a handful of teams (Sunderland, West Ham, Fulham, Palace, Cardiff) in a worse predicament than us.

EDIT: Also forgot to add, we are halfway through the season. We are halfway to our points total target. What exactly are the expectations for this season other than survival/consolidation?

If being part of an 11 team group that are not safe from relegation in January can elicit so much panic then I think Premier League life is going to be a rough ride for some fans. It seems Swansea has made a fine transition into a Premier League club - but some fans' mentality have yet to acclimatize.

Yes. So we leave him with a club trying to send us down? The reason being he didn't come back from Korea when Laudrup said. Do u think that's reasonable?

Why would Ki come back to a club where he may get some game time, but more likely would drift in and out of the team like he did before.
I'm not Ki's biggest fan, but I can see why he'd stay at Sunderland to get game time
