C'mon Tipp! on 22:40 - Sep 8 by BrianMcCarthy | Good Lord, Bosh, are you sticking up for the stonethrowers? Tipp, the craythurs, have won only five All-Irelands in my lifetime. Nice to see them back in big time, though. |
No, it didn't matter who the second team was.... as you well know, I was merely commenting on the current demise of Cork Hurling. Which, I have to say, may be only short term now having witnessed the two nephews in action for the under 21 championships for Cork and Castlelyons this last couple of months. Could have two Spillane brothers in the senior squad in the next 1-2yrs.

Ya, I got the dig but was attempting to bypass it! Good news on the nephews. I'm back in Cork full-time now, so will hopefully get to watch them plenty more times.

Spillane brothers? Shouldn't they be playing football further west?

Very, Very touchy subject!! Their father played football up to Under 21 level for Cork and played in an All Ireland at Under 21, and ironically his mother WAS from Kerry, but despite my provoking him, I cannot prove his paternal line links back to Kerry in recent history.

Ya, I can see how that might be touchy! It's actually a Tipperary name originally. A friend of mine from East Cork (Ger Spillane who played for Cork footballers) put me right on this. It's popular enough in Cork recently, John Spillane being a popular Corkonian singer whose house I bought. I try not to think too much about the vicious little diver from Kerry. Life's too short.
