What is a hoople queen?

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

Yep, went to both. And Sparks. For Roxy it was the stranded tour with the white tux. For queen, mercury reckoned they couldn't play killer queen as the piano was shot.. Sparks was the most fun, some talented musicians too.

Queen also played the Brangwyn the following November as headliners. The support band,Hustler, actually got an encore.I've never known this happen to a support band either before or since, but they were good.I was not a huge fan of Queen at the time but I liked the current single, the double "A" side of "Killer Queen/Flick Of The Wrist".This was one of the best gigs I ever went too,Queen absolutely tore the nuts off the place and Freddie told us,and I quote, that we were,"..a lovely load of Darlings".What a front man.

Flick of the wrist is a great song. Sheer Heart Attack is a great album. Terrible title mind.

Yeh I was there for Roxy and Sparks. Phil Manzanera was sitting down as he had done some ligaments in. Leo Sayer was good as well.
Such a shame Swansea is right off the circuit now. Any gigs of this ilk are now in Cardiff and Bristol meaning a battle to get there and back on the sh!te transport links.

This is true Darr. It has tailed off quite a bit and Bristol gets most of the medium sized gigs. Mainly because there is not the population nor the money to sustain all the entertainment projects. I remember reading that Cardiff had more multiplex cinema seats per head of population than any another city in Europe. The problem is that it is our taxes that are going into the many failed WAG white elephants in the mudflats. ;-)

If they were then I am pretty certain they were in the Brangwyn as well. I also saw Pilot there. Remember them?
The last band I saw there was Roy Wood's Army. 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day' in the middle of summer. :-))

Speaking of the Top Rank , remember Stranglers + The Skids later known as Big Country who were raw and powerful that night . Stranglers , as they performed that way at that time ,very in your face and mean .
