Now I am really worried....................
JFH ain't gonna change the way he sets up the team
and obviously thinks his playing system will work - is that arrogance ??

Tick, tock, Tick, tock

Three games to go before a decision needs taking.
I was really hoping he'd see the light and drop his rigid, steadfast and dreary approach to the games but this seems he's going to remain dogmatic and intransigent until 95% of the fanbase hound him out.

It would do my heart good to be made to look a mug by ODH and be wrong all along.
Off the pitch he makes all the right noises and I agree with the approach on player recruitment and sports science etc. However, come Saturdays at 3.00pm (or whenever matchday is in these shite Sky times) it all goes to pot and he sets us up with a CM out wide, a right midfielder on the left, a CB at right back, the slowest and least aggressive ball winner in the league and a midget up front chasing long balls.

We've got some okay players but we do lack a goal scoring midfielder breaking from deep and I'd question if Chery can do that, especially away from home.
It's ODH's squad. There are no excuses.

Does anyone seriously see a change in how we are going about things in the next 4 games, 14 games or rest of the season?

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

It has to change otherwise Jimmy WILL be out of a job.

Sorry Annti, whilst we continue to persevere with Henry as our midfield enforcer, my shit slinging will continue.

So, what the OP is saying is that if you hit adversity, you should immediately throw all plans out of the window. Otherwise its arrogance.

What I would say, is that sometimes you make adjustments and sometimes you stick to the plan. And, unless you are in the training sessions that management are in, then its hard to know which is the right course of action. And, pretending that you do know for sure what the right course of action even though you haven't been in all of the training sessions, well that might just be true arrogance.

@Antti_Heinola 'Since he took over the job in November, we lost these players: Austin (not that he ever got to play him), Phillips, Hoilett (much-maligned, but between them either scored or created around 20 goals last season), Hill, Faurlin (both his decison, both correct, but bear with me) and Green (no loss). Last summer we also lost a lot of players - all needed to go, but the point is that this is a squad in an enormous state of flux. Not helped by a change of manager in the middle of it. At the same time, while he has had some funds, he hasn't been able to get his top choices very often because of the state of the market. All the players we lost had to go - but at the same time, they all needed to be replaced. Onuoha and, remarkably, Henry are the only two to have survived the cull from 13 months ago. This is an enormous job, an enormous re-structure, it's not going to be easy, it's not going to be quick - more importantly, a 'quick-fix' option, which could be possible with a name manager and a lot of money, would only put us back in the same hole we're trying to crawl out of.'

Agree we have lost goals. As well as the players mentioned, Fer also provided a goal threat (which didn't always translate into goals), and Phillips could whip in crosses for Polter (as well as scoring).

The plan seemed to be to try to not concede and score the odd goal on the break. However, our defence is looking so shaky that there is no way we are not going to concede, so we are not going to get away with winning by the odd goal.

If the plan is not to concede and keep it tight then why not look to actually get someone in who can play right back? How about having a midfield enforcer who isn't a slow 56 year old who stands off the opposition with a zombie like body shape and never gets a tackle in?

If the second plan is to nick a goal on the break then we need players who actually want to get forward at pace and spread play. Why have every midfielder seemingly coached to death to stay deep and play narrow?

Yes it's a big job, huge. The mess the Bungle Brothers allowed to happen would be a task for even the most experienced football people. The appointment of Hoos seems astute but rather than complement that with further day to day football people we're furnished with a novice in his first role and a management team in their first ever role at this level.

I'm actually amazed we troubled the upper places of the fledgling table this season!!!

We're in for a proper slog now until January at least when hopefully we can look to get the right back we so desperately need and some pace in midfield. I just hope they are making loan enquiries to Prem clubs for some decent acquisitions to fill those gaps and not leaving it to Jim Shite Day for a last minute scramble

Mate we have been missing a proper RB for nearly three seasons now, I cannot believe we are still playing ned there even more unbelievable is that he is still captain
I got some stick early on in the season by some on here on the Perch to wigan thread that we didn't a right back and that ned was a transformed player this season (we had played 2 games)
the more worrying thing for me is that we have zero creativity , we have no one who can take a player on , and no one who can pass the ball , I just hope and pray we address this in January as well , if not then we could be looking at a repeat of the 99/00 season

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore
