Anyone attend the opening gig this evening and if so your thoughts?
Everything I’ve read so far sounds really positive
There’ll be plenty of detractors no doubt, but I’m now really really looking forward to seeing them at Wembley Tickets were stupid prices but I’d always expected that would be the case if they ever reunited; hope they keep their mojo for at least another month!!!
Set list looks a right old riotous walk down memory lane
This season it's more ridiculous than ever that potentially nearly half the Premiership will be playing in a European competition of some sort next season. By the time November ticks around a third of them will be bleating about fixture congestion and not really want to be playing Thursday nights in any case.
What's really boiling my piss is the fact that Bentford could nab European football in 8th or 9th spot...... this would kill me and I'd probably have to give football and even bigger rest!!
I'm sure most of us, and other similar supporters in the EFL, would give their right gonad for the chance to travel to a Danish fishing village with a 5G pitch and 2 pubs or a backwater of Hungary etc to see our team in bona fide European Cup Competition and bloody love it an all.
The InterToto Cup is never coming back.
I've said it before but surely there has to be a market and a way for us lot not on the gravy train to be involved.... or the slightest of a chance to be. My selfish route would be for the losing EFL play off finalists to qualify or even some mini competition for the losing play offs at each Divisional level to slug it out for that spot as a first pre-season game. If not then maybe third place in the Championship providing they lose the play offs, dropping down in order of merit???
It seems to me that for the last decade or more there’s always something relevant to our last home game.
We’ve had various away clubs celebrating titles or promotions; obviously ourselves under King Warnock. Then it’s been us securing survival or ensuring we stay alive until the last game.
In between we rejoice at getting our hands on The Sixteenth Place Trophy
Hoping we don’t add Burnley’s title to the list today (although I know it wouldn’t be confirmed)
Nope Instead we’ll go from relegation certs, to play off outsiders and quick as a flash doing all we can to join the relegation mix. I’d wager we’ll be SIX POINTS above relegation at the turn of the international break as next up is Leeds and Derby play Plymuff. I mean how the actual fcuk?!
Bipolar this mob. Totally.
Seems we actively seek out thick as whale blubber players
Did he sustain this whilst apparently throwing down his shin pads and being quite petulant in front of the dugout at the FT versus Rovers? I didn’t see it but was told this happened
It was one of the first things I looked at team sheet wise at 7pm and I wasn’t shocked to see him missing I personally would’ve started him and rested Frey for Friday Maybe he’s picked up a Jimmy Dunne Groin or maybe it’s something else.
We’ve got a player on our hands here; signed a contract and now he needs to do it for himself but do it the Marti way
If anyone had said to you in early to mid November that we’d need four wins to (sort of) be safe by time first week of February ticked around would you have called a health professional for them?
Last seasons Marti miracle was amazing but I’m finding this years turnaround even more amazing. Coming into Gareth’s bereft club gave Marti the ability to shake things up. This season he was present at the start of; let’s call it a “difficult period”, and I think turning a tanker round that youve set on it’s course is a tougher ask.
All credit to him and also the players. Sliding doors moments all about Celar - his goals at Cardiv followed up by season ending injury sort of changed things for us.
Keep kicking on Rangers and let’s finish as high as we can
It concerns me he can now talk to other clubs and he’d surely be in demand on current form. I feel he’s one of the heartbeats of the place and a 2 + 1 deal surely has to be done.
If we were looking for someone to replace our top scorer and best defender it’d cost millions
I want to give it to Jimmy Dunne for sentimental reasons and coming in at 16/1 (I did predict on another thread he’d score from a corner and point to the sky)
But has to be Rayan Sign a lifetime Contract now young man and gutted you didn’t get the hatrick you deserved
Honourable mentions and candidates to others……
The linesman at our left back area - take a bow Sir
Jonathan Varanne - you thought that was his best game yet for the club and he’s getting better with each passing performance. Immense work rate
Paul Smyth and Saito as busy as you could possibly want
Also I’d consider Celar…. Him deciding he’d had enough in the 10th minute might have been the second best thing he’s done for the club after his brace the other week. He ain’t doing none of what that boy Kolli did and so him being subbed was a grace.
In all seriousness though; superb performance from all of the lads there today in grim weather conditions stopping a bit of rhythm and many a clearance second half
Must admit I wasn’t sure about him early doors The red card v Rovers could’ve crumbled him His sub appearance today was great though wasn’t it? If only for that superb bit of skill on the left wing taking two Watford players out of the game????
He’s getting a lot more awareness of the Championship and showing better and better game smarts as we go. He’ll make mistakes but he’s got a good attitude and shows great endeavour.
I’m not 100% sold yet but I’m now filing him in the column of probably a successful signing by the club.
Can someone please let me know what date the “it’s still early days” statement gets dropped?
I’ll circle the date and call that the “Should’ve gelled by now” part of the season
Can’t believe I’m already hoping we’ve got things lined up for January!!!!! We are desperate for a striker to help out Frey Need two pacey physical monsters in midfield and to fcuk off the Danish Dozzell and either crucify Jesus or bin him off I’d like a left back who is interested and, if our sick note CB’s remain out, then another Cook type but with some pace
