Poku was out for about 4 months last season with hammy issues. I’d hope they are taking his rehab REALLY seriously and don’t do a Willock with him. Out of all the players we signed this summer he’s the one who I instantly thought “hello… we may have one here” both preseason and his fleeting full debut. I am concerned that he might have had to have surgery again. If so then surely Posh haven’t stitched us up AGAIN??????
JCS…… I wouldn’t be surprised if we never saw him pull on the shirt again. Still a real mystery why he was handed an extended Contract with his record. Mind you, round about the same time I said the same about Kelman, and that all worked out splendidly so what do I know?!?
As for who misses out it’s a real alien question for us isn’t it? Mad really. For me it would have to be Dembele on recent showings. Dropping Morgan and/or Kolli is an obvious choice due to their age but I hope they both stay in and kick on. Likewise, Sam Field was first name on team sheet last couple of seasons, hope he rediscovers that plus he can cover CB so Hayden steps down for me. We’ll see……
I can only assume you’re not a lover of irony? Good spin on it but you’ll see it doesn’t ask for anything of the sort.
As for the self entitlement opinion I’d disagree as well. Been done to death but, the best chance we had of silverware with the most balanced and exciting squad was wimped away in 2021.
The current options for a balanced squad are pretty poor IMHO Goalkeeper will be a problem - not many candidates and the current incumbent is a little bit mad. Defenders are pretty ropey across the line and I’m not seeing any of the personnel being bang on it and world class. Midfield we do have an embarrassment of riches and it’s a tough one for Tuchel to get the balance right and keep everyone happy. However, Henderson and Loftus-Cheek are mad choices and O’Reilly ahead of others is odd. Strikers is a concern if Kane isn’t fully fit and firing, Watkins has his moments but for me is most effective against high lines (and you don’t get many of those at international level). It seems to me there’s no third or fourth option up top.
With the above in mind I’d be amazed if England go too deep into this next crazy World Cup tournament. That’s just a quirk of timing and what’s available for the squad at this time
Has demonstrated we have one CF in Kane with an average (at this level) back up to him but after that... zip.
I'm sure the watching world enjoyed seeing Tax Dodger Henderson and Ruben Loftus Cheek as the midfield axis second half. Far more entertaining than Bellingham or Foden or Eze or Grealish
What a fantastic goal by Saka... damn that kid is such a talent and should be playing for his local club.
Three 2 part “dramas” set on the Oirish border with a really annoying pair of lead actors (overly hard ass lesbian from South, God fearing prod man from North). The acting is terrible, storylines weak but some of the countryside is nice
It feels to me if you mark your card with the current regime (Nourryafia) then you’re done. With that in mind I don’t think young Rayan would be making first team squads or getting vital minutes away from home.
I’m hopeful that means he’ll remain the fold. As noted, he will get chances as Kone will get suspended / need resting at some stage; Burrell likewise and his piston like hamstrings and calves need to be managed; Frey is Frey and it’s a shame his body don’t allow runs of games plus I don’t believe there’s anyone pushing from the Dev Squad to do a strikers job.
Looking forward to him doing a job (here that is……not in a Trump cabinet)
Was the moment I was convinced this lad will be a player. I remember seeing that video on it's own and thinking "yep". You'd struggle to coach that sort of vision and confidence.
As a showreel clip goes the rest of it is pretty impressive but we know how these can be edited.
A shame there's a load of "other noise" around him as I really do think he could make it to the top but with every passing month it feels like it won't be here. Which is sad.
His first spell at Watford lasted from January 2018 to September 2019, that 20-month tenure being the longest enjoyed by any Hornets boss in the past 14 years.
Ollie Watkins is much faster than Harry Kane. I know which one I'd want in my side.
If Kone could do the 100metres in 9 seconds then he'd be at Real Madrid. My own opinion on Kone is I think he's still got lots to give and is playing his way into the Championship..... that is a good thing.
Who can't be enjoying where we are at the moment? The only drawback is the nosebleed from being this high up in the table. I can't see it being sustained..... wise old sages may well say "we'll be there or thereabouts" and let's hope so.
My intake of air between my teeth is due to recent history. Nourry's dictate on how the team should be set up / play didn't work - queue change to a more pragmatic approach by Marti and things started looking good. Then, for some reason, a decision made to revert back to original set up and approach and, quelle suprise, the wheels came off again until we went pragmatic again. New man, new season but back to the "game model" that is clearly unsuitable to the squad or the level we are at.... disaster... cue a change back to - you guessed it - a more pragmatic approach and we become the country's form team.
I watch with interest to see if there's yet another flip back to Nourry's prefered model and what happens next.
Love his attitude. If we can get a bit more confidence in him to have some shots we’ll have a top player on our hands. Always showing, strong, fast as a rocket and a proper pest. Puts it in and happy to go up against anyone of any size.
Like. Like a lot.
If he makes double figures this season I’d say his value in May would’ve already quadrupled minimum
