Jimmy sacked on 17:45 - Nov 6 by Nov77 | Don't think that's true. Remember Paul hart getting booed after we won a game for being ultra negative. Most rangers fans, of a certain age anyway, expect to be entertained when we go. It's one of the reasons we, more than any other club, always welcomed Maverick players, and made heroes of them. |
I am Rangers fan of a certain age but those days when we were royally entertained are long gone and reality has taken over. We had the players then to entertain but what price to be able to build teams like we had in the past. Modern football dictates that success comes first and the rest follows.

Weill that's a two headed coin and first and foremost football is an entertainment spectator/sport Was it Bill Power who said, you are just punters no different to cinema goers. Well if you are not entertained, which under JFH was lacking, you have the right to complain/stop going.

Jimmy sacked on 16:03 - Nov 6 by CamberleyR | At the time he was a very good candidate. Had got Burton promoted and they were two points clear in League One at the time we appointed him. And you know how exactly that Burton weren't fussed in keeping him? You don't, it's just another supposition to go along with your "he got the job because he was Les's mate" assumption. |
There has been plenty written about how JFH inherited Rowett's squad and Burton fans weren't that fussed to see him go because his style was so negative.

Rowetts team was out of form and sliding down the table when JFH took over.

After over 50 years it is difficult to stop going because unlike Bill Power I don't see myself as a cinema goer when it comes to this club although over these last few months I have been sorely tempted. Speaking for myself football is an entertainment first and foremost for those with the half and half scarves and purport to support and wear the shirt of teams they have never seen live. I am not slagging off Bill Power just replying to the quote from the previous poster. I have no idea if he said that or not

You really have an odd way about you why criticise me I did not even bring up the name just replying. Am I suppose to call the poster who raised Bill Powers name a lier. I'll give you I might have worded it a little better but that is all I can be accused of [Post edited 6 Nov 2016 21:03]

Jesus Christ. It was aimed at you both. Saying "Unlike Bill Power..." obviously means you're agreeing with him that Bill Power said that. No, you don't need to call him a liar - you could just not actually post something agreeing with him. And I've got an "odd way about me." Excellent. Briatore was the one who said fans only "pay twenty pounds" and so should have no say in what happens at the club. Bill Power was the one who helped stop us going under when there were collection buckets being passed round Loftus Road. Still, all the same really eh? [Post edited 6 Nov 2016 21:13]

"Defence is definitely the key for him though." "There was a stat last month that we have created more chances than any other team in the league but taken the lowest percentage of them." "For a former striker of his calibre, it's an oddity that we only have three strikers in the squad, and two of those haven't scored yet." "he doesn’t play enough attacking football at home" "His record on signings has been a bit up and down" Sounds very familiar.

" No it does not it means without any evidence I and not calling the poster a lier. Have you concrete evidence to the contrary. Wording was poor I agree "unlike Bill Power who I have no reason to believe you have misquoted...." might have been better. You might even have asked me to clarify my post before jumping to conclusions.

I'll play this game. "He’s been absolutely excellent. He’s certainly taken us to a different level since he came, using much the same style as his predecessor Gary Rowett " "The players work hard and run through walls for him" " he doesn’t play enough attacking football at home as he doesn’t want to concede. He hates conceding goals" ."His record on signings has been a bit up and down: some good, some failures. No prolific strikers but all strikers have to work really hard closing down. To be fair he hasn’t had a lot of money to play around with and get hold of expensive strikers so has done really well with what he has signed for the money available. ." "Credit to Rowett initially but huge credit to Jimmy for making us more professional and getting there". "He is going from a small, well-run club where he has a great relationship with the chairman to a bigger club with some well-documented problems to address so it will be a challenge." Sound familiar.?

I see your 2 quotes and raise them my 5. And this from an article not of my choosing. The seeds were sown by Clough and Rowett, JFH enjoyed the bloom, as did Nigel Clough after him. [Post edited 6 Nov 2016 22:14]

Well it looks like PunteR has beaten me to it, if you want a quote off, technically the comment about signings doesn't matter her due to us having a magnificent DoF to oversee that for whoever is manager, so you have 4 quotes really. Anyway the point to my quotes was that despite the stuff you quoted the fan still rated JFH and wasn't as glad to see him leave as you seem keen to make out. But I think deep down you know that already.

I don't need to dig, it's been handed to me on a platter. Thanks for that! And a loftforwords article to boot. "Defence is definitely the key for him though." Your welcome. We can do this all night Benny. You've picked out the negatives and i've highlighted positives. Where does he say he's not fussed. It was a pretty balanced interview.
