Great North Run 02:00 - Sep 8 with 4181 viewsstowmarketrange

Are there any other R's stupid enough to be attempting to run 13+ miles on Sunday in the north east?
It's my first 1/2 marathon for 27 years and although I've been training for it for the last 7 months,13 miles will seem a long way to run.
Good luck if there are any other sufferers willing to run it.

Not this time but all the very best! It is so well supported, it honestly gives you a massive lift! Don't worry about doing a set time, you've done the hard work, now just try and enjoy it! Good luck!!!

Good luck with the run. You'll be fine get the 10 out of the way and then you HAVE to finish!

I've got my first duathlon Sunday week and had injury after injury recently. Dreading it... 10k run 44k bike then 5k run.

Not running the GNR but I'll be doing the Royal Parks Half Mararthon in four weeks time so will be watching on Sunday for some inspiration.

If you've been training for seven months you'll be more than ready. Good Luck.

Good luck!

Not doing the GNR; did the Harlow 10 mile last weekend and should do 12 on Sunday as my last long run before the Ealing Half in a couple of weeks time. When you get through 10, you've only got a Parkrun to go!

It's always noisiest at the shallow end

I done London Marathon this year and there was a group of R's fans around Mile 8 or 9. Gave them a big "You R's" and was great to see.

Would be great to wear the hoops in a race but I always wear my club vest (need to suggest getting that changed to blue and white hoops!)

I do a fair bit of running, for those that log runs on Strava we have a QPR runners group. Feel free to join it if you haven't done already.

Am also due to run Ealing half later this month, but I've got tendonitis in my foot, so haven't done a run for 2 weeks, even a parkrun...

annoying as I was hoping for a PB as Ealing is fairly flat (not as flat as the Royal Parks one though!)

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Good luck for the Half-Marathon Stowmarket. The crowds will carry you on there if you start to flag from what I’ve seen in the past. Handing out sweets and drinks and encouragement.
I used to love the half marathons when I used to run.

Dolcelatte — You doing the one in Richmond Park? I cycled through Richmond Park yesterday and they mentioned an event there soon.

Cheers mate.I'm quite looking forward to it really. It won't be too hot or too wet as long as I don't take too long.
My main problem will be going slow enough for Sir Mo to catch me up so we can cross the finish line together.
I used to live in Roehampton, and Richmond Park was where we spent our 6 weeks holidays. What a fantastic place to have on your doorstep, and I never appreciated how lucky we were as kids.We had the choice of there,Wimbledon common or Barnes common all a short walk away.Happy days.

I'll be dressed up as a golfer complete with plus fours and a fancy green hat.Completing the look is a set of kiddies golf clubs.I'm also hoping to have an old kids qpr shirt on my back, which I'm going to leave as a tribute at the Sunderland memorial garden for Bradley Lowry on the way back to Newcastle. My start zone is K,so a few will have finished before I get to the start.Im hoping for around the 3 hour mark as my brother will be at the finish line with a pint of Guinness around 1.30 and the greedy barsteward will drink it if I'm any later.

These are awesome:

I get horrendous runners' nipple and if I don't have these on for anything over 5k, I look like I've been shot. Twice.

Yes mate that's the one. Doing the middle distance. Nearly entered the ultra, very glad I didn't right now. Feel like I've done 10 rounds after the Osteopath rebuilt me yesterday..

My nephew, Chris Thompson, is running in it and may well feature. Sadly he supports the Bluebirds of Barrow, not Rangers. My dad obviously didn't get to him early enough!

Well that was superb. Great atmos, wonderful support along the route, and I got in in under two hours for the first time. Woohoo, as the young people say.

Cheers to the folks who gave me a big old URRRRRRRS as I was trying to pick up the pace at the end.

Dag Steve, if it was around the 10 mile Mark by a parade of shops that would be me and my family. Was up watching my daughter and her boyfriend run. Always a good day out and friendly atmosphere. Was that a Nike shirt you was wearing though....

I made it.Great atmosphere around the course, especially in the last couple of miles when you need it most.Finished in 2 hours 52 mins which better than I expected.
I only wish I could move my legs today though.
And I raised about £500 for Prostate Cancer U.K.,so what's not to like?
